Sometimes I feel like I am an imposter in my own life. Supposedly we are all connected. You know, we are all stardust, we are all part of the universal consciousness, etc., etc. And I do truly believe this. I want to believe this. This idea of interconnectedness gives me hope. It gives me hope of an afterlife that is better than nothing. It gives me hope that separateness will be abolished in another dimension someday somewhere over the rainbow. But if this is true, then why do I feel so goddamn separate. Sometimes I feel like I walk alongside everything in my life but am rarely truly wholly inside any particular part of it. I struggle to fit in to any aspect of my life, almost good at parts of it and kind of okay at the rest. I’m an imposter……working to fill the roles of mother, wife, teacher, yogi, artist, chef, menopause lady, friend, sister. And generally sucking at most of it. Don’t get me wrong, I do not beat myself up over this. It is just something I notice. Something I need to learn to accept. I need to learn to accept that at almost 50 I am average at most everything I do. I exist next to everything. If I am an imposter then are we all imposters? Does everyone exist in their own separateness? Are any of us really anything? Asking for a friend.
