If you play sports, workout, or are crushing it at this roller coaster I call LIFE, eventually you can expect and will probably have a physical(and sometimes mental or emotional)setback that takes you away from your normal routine. This is when resilience matters most! (FYI - I’m having a minor procedure done on Friday) Many of us(Yes, ME!!) fitness minded folks use exercise as stress relief! Exercise helps us to regulate mood, sleep, productivity, body composition and more. So how do you cope when you don’t have that?🤔🤔🤔 Count Your Blessings. It’s nearly impossible to feel grateful and sorry for yourself at the same time. Put things in perspective. I remind myself that I will heal. My strength, balance, and endurance will come back(with proper care). Stick to your Routine. When you combine loss of exercise with loss of routine, you’ve got a recipe for depression. Even if a big piece of your routine has changed(like mine will), keep as much of it in tact as possible! If you normally wake to exercise at a certain time - keep those same habits in tact. . Focus on alternative strength sessions! If it’s a lower body injury, focus on your upper body strength. If your setback has you on bed rest, focus on your spiritual strength during that time. Plan your recovery with the same passion and focus on healing foods, reducing stress, sleep, and exploring FOAM ROLLING!
