Incase yall didn’t know about Martyn newest character, martyn/bubbles/haybale/meowtyn/idiot/refrigerator/archebald/etc. Go watch the flight smp so you’re up to date about what I’m talking about or so you can avoid getting somewhat spoiled about the character. I’m calling them No Name for simplicity sake.
We all know that No Name has no proper memories of their past, like where they’re from or how they got to the academy, and they’ll use some japanese in their everyday vocabulary or when choosing decorations for their room. I personally really like the idea that No Name didn’t come from any place that even somewhat resembles japan, instead, they lived in some random extremely southern town in the middle of bumbfuck nowhere.
The real reason that they struggle to remember their name isn’t because they have a magical block on that specific part of their memories, it’s just that everyone they knew before does what southerners do when they’re close to you and called them by literally anything but their actual name. Like No Name would walk into the local grocery store and the cashier would be like, “Is that all you want for today, kitten?” or they’d be in the middle of helping their neighbor mow their lawn and the guy would say something along the lines of, “Good job, squirt, now come inside so I can give you a glass of water.” y’know things like that.
So their brain is trying to pull any recent memory of their name being said and they’re coming up short because their entire fucking town decided to treat them like a mangy little mutt they found on the side of the road and only called No Name by the affectionate nicknames they gave, making it so they don’t actually have any memories to use to remember their original name.
No Name is basically that one meme where the guy answers the call by saying “Moshi moshi?” and the other guy replies in the most heavy spanish accent you’ve ever heard, just replace the spanish with extreme southern slang.
