Making my own post about antisemitism and the Tumblr model
(disclaimer: I'm not Jewish)
Look at this post--- perfectly fine post, making the argument that because Mike Schur is of Jewish origin, this perfectly explains the ethical and moral foundations of The Good Place because he's operating in a framework of chesed, loving-kindness.
That post is from 2019
we know that on tumblr tolerance can turn into glorification, which turns into appropriation--- which in turn becomes fanaticism and finally intolerance---
i think it's possible that in some communities of tumblr, the people (wth best intentions) elevate Judaism up as this religion that's so much better that Christianity.
and now, 7 years on, that same notion is part of the antisemitism that is rampant in leftist spaces. Because if Judaism is so much better, that means Jewish people are held up to a higher standard of behavior, and when they fail to meet that (by being, y'know, people with their own diversity of opinions and practice), that means it's okay to deride them.
