HAPPY MAY THE 4TH!!!
1 more day to go!
Tomorrow is May 4 or Star Wars Day. Today is May 3. Stay hidden today, Jedi. May the 3rd Sister never find you.
Rewatching ‘Kenobi’ (yes, AGAIN. shut up) and GOD, when Obi-Wan slips out of Reva’s grasp again and she’s running after him, clearly angry. And she yells “you can’t escape him!” catch me fucking sobbing. Reva couldn’t escape Anakin. She couldn’t escape the Inquisitorius. (She can’t escape her own pain.) And the absolute betrayal she must feel that Obi-Wan escaped and then abandoned all the young Padawan survivors. (Which, we understand why.) but I’m just thinking of Cal and how Master Tapal told him that the Jedi would find him. He’d be okay because the Order would come looking for him. Because it was just so inconceivable to Jaro that the Order wouldn’t. He doesn’t even question it or hesitate. (And the narrative whole of SW is that this is a reasonable assumption because again and again and AGAIN, we see the knights and masters doing everything they can to protect the young jedi in their care. Even sacrificing their own lives. Without hesitation. Because that’s how much the Order values their children.)
And then they never did. Because that’s the tragedy, Jaro didn’t know the Order would be absolutely annihilated. And so how many young survivors must feel betrayed like Reva? Abandoned by the Order? The people that were supposed to protect her and her friends. Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. She really is so wonderfully complex.

that inevitable post owk reva sevander story better be at least 70% reva struggling to adjust to society outside the inquisitorius. she should be strange and unsettling.
i think it's a very lovely piece of characterization, reva having the longest hair of any inquisitor, even with her braids out & even though it's way longer than imperial standard. like you can imagine her stubbornly fighting for just one thing she could control & it was this. and it's a testament the length of time she's been an inquisitor in many ways, that no one bothers bothering her about it anymore, that she can get assistance in maintenance with her hair, and of course how long it's grown since she was a wee youngling in their fortress. there's some meta commentary as well, with moses's input in deciding how reva's hair should look vs how the concept art portrays her with noticably untextured hair.
i'd posit there's a grief element to it too, that she does not tamper with the hair she's had since she was a youngling, that she protects it, & lets it grow, hides it away from anything & anyone that could damage it. the part hair plays in mourning, like in shloshim, being vital to a ritual of reva's own creation, conscious or not, in grounding herself in her individuality and what she refuses to let go or forget.
