Naruto headcanons (Canon Divergent)
•The Hatake and Inuzuka clans are distant cousins (wolf clan Hatake has me in a choke hold)
•Kakashi's bell test is actually a Hatake clan tradition meant to test the teamwork and awareness of the Genin of the clan, originally one could eat a light meal before the test but Kakashi added the no eating before rule as an extra challenge
•Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura aggressively pack bonded with each other without realizing it
•Early on Sakura showed interest in first aid and became the team medic immediately
•Iruka discovered that Naruto is a practical learner early on so he would give him some light training drills and quiz him on different subjects, turns out Naruto is really smart, he's just reckless
•Kakashi teaches Team Seven how to break out of different Genjustus along with different fighting styles, also group therapy sessions
•Sakura breaks out of the toxic feminine headspace she was put in growing up and starts acting more like her inner self, she gains a healthy amount of weight in terms of body fat and lean muscle so she's not skin and bones anymore, she also fights like hell
•Sasuke slowly learns to be a kid again and slowly gets out of survival mode, he's very protective of his teammates
•Naruto learns that it's ok to let his more wild instincts shine through
•Sakura keeps her hair braided and often asks Sasuke or Naruto for help because they know how to braid
•Sasuke and Naruto carry extra hair ties for Sakura, even after her braid was ripped off during the Chunin exam
•Naruto answered every question on the Chunin exam test wrong because he got really bad test anxiety and just blanked
•Sasuke leaned into the idea of working to protect his friends and village
•Kakashi tried his best not to but he ended up pack-bonding with his students, it gets set in stone during the Land of Waves arc when Kakashi refers to Team Seven as his pups instead of his students
• Wolf Instinct Kakashi my beloved
•It becomes a normal sight around Konoha to see Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura play wrestling or sporting different colored Band-Aids
•It also becomes normal to see Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura following Kakashi around the village
•Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura all tackle Kakashi whenever he comes back from a solo mission because they were worried and missed their Sensei
•Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura all grow fangs and have growled/snarled at people before
•Kakashi nearly has a heart attack the first time he hears one of his students growl but he also feels proud
•Team Seven become Chunin and later become Junin
•Sakura runs away from her parents before the Chunin exam because they try to forbid her from taking the exam because they're worried about her. Sakura ends up living in a flat near Naruto's, it takes a week before anyone finds out what happened
•Team Seven group howls, the first time it happens is on a mission when they get separated, Sakura starts the howl and is relieved when Naruto and Sasuke howl back followed by Kakashi
•Kakashi nearly cries the first time his kids howl because for the first time in years, he can answer back
•Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura all get a white streak in their hair, after some tests at the hospital it's discovered that it's because they chakra bonded with Kakashi
•Sasuke gets kidnapped by Orochimaru instead of willingly leaving the village and gets forcibly trained by him. Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi almost go rogue to try and rescue Sasuke
•The third Hokage nearly has a heart attack when he realizes that Kakashi and his team have pack bonded
•Neji survives the ninja war
•Sasuke and Naruto still fight after the war since Orochimaru's influence is still in the back of Sasuke's mind which turns to his idea of using hatred to rule the world after the war
•Naruto uses Kurama to get his and Sasuke's arms back, they both end up with serious nerve damage that Sakura scolds them both about while giving them specialized compression sleeves with built in gloves to help the pain
•One of Orochimaru's men revives him, Sasuke hunts him down to get answers about his clan's origins and Itachi's actions
•Sasuke had escaped Orochimaru during the time skip and spent a few weeks surviving in the woods before he was recaptured
•Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura have their last names hyphenated to include the last name Hatake, Kakashi ends up crying when he finds out
•When Kakashi becomes Hokage, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura join Anbu and become his personal guard. Naruto chooses the name Fox, Sasuke chooses the name Wolf, and Sakura chooses the name Akita
•Hinata had a crush on Naruto first but Naruto fell harder. Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura came back from an Anbu mission one day and Naruto took one look at Hinata and fell head over heels for her as he has a realization
Y'ALL HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THE KANKURO ONE!!! :D
Temari (mah wife <3) and Gaara getting another one is just *chef's kiss*
i feel like all the progress and skillsets displayed in non-protagonist characters was wasted. the chunin exams, for instance. there were so many episodes just for the three stages (plus the preliminary rounds, so four ig), and all of the four teams in the konoha 12 were shown. but then after the arc finished, throughout the rest of the anime, the powers that characters like shino, tenten, and lee were highly underutilized. during major fights and wars, a whole slew of the cast were discarded into support roles. if not being outright thrown away into retirement or incapacitation. just to shine a light on the protagonists and their love interests.
og naruto was about a hard-working underdog clawing to overcome a harsh reality and past. then in shippuden, it was demigods, all-powerful bijuu, aliens, and a rabbit goddess in the moon. mostly, yes i know all the aspects in og didn't disappear. but naruto spamming shadow clones, rasengan, and kurama's chakra was..a choice. like how are you going to have naruto calling himself the "unpredictable ninja", whilst being incredibly predictable. og naruto had distinct jutsu, more scrappy, clever traps and strategies. sasuke retrieval arc, namely, especially neji's fight. that was gorgeous. like kidomaru finding the byakugan's blindspot, and later, a poisoned and damaged neji figured out how to channel chakra via the web thread and destroy kidomaru's internal organs. since neji was low on chakra, in came the scrappy strategy, he allowed himself to be impaled on kidomaru's arrow just to pull his move.
fights js strayed from what they used to be abt, in my opinion. they were about exploiting blindspots, using those traps, digging into elemental weaknesses, and bluffing. not like full conversations and villian/hero monologues in the middle of the fight, like sasuke explaining his chidori or kirin or whatever smack in the middle of the fight at the valley of the end. instead of distinct battles, in which each shinobi has to use their unique sets and tools and intellects to survive, i remember a majority of the fights just being a brute force and massive-scale jutsu show. shinobi aren't samurai. they can't afford morals or honor or a strict code of conduct type stuff. they're ninjas, so espionage and pragmatism. valuing efficiency over honor. literally the definition of their careers, being the ones in the shadows doing the dirty work for the good of the village. though the show didn't show the nitty gritty dark parts, since the main character is naruto. and he's like an optimist, idolizing figures like the hokage and the shinobi life. most likely heavily indoctrinated. hiruzen was the only kind, consistent adult figure in his upbringing. and as hokage, whether he's fond of naruto or not, hiruzen needed to make sure the village's only jinchuriki became a shinobi, and a strong one at that.
I like Hiruzen and think a prequel series about Tobirama's team would have been an infinitely better TV show than Boruto.

Others, when getting caught: escaping or trying to resist
Meanwhile, Orochimaru:
The word "cute" is apparently Orochimaru's trademark.
(Naruto episode 72)
I saw these inexpensive Naruto character small child/toddler socks on an online secondhand shop and thought, "Kakashi AND Iruka?!? Surely I can do something with these..." but opted against it at the time. I don't currently have any small children and there's no way they would fit me, and I didn't want to take them away from anybody with little children who might want them.
But now months later they were still there, so I went ahead and bought them, and now I need ideas for what to do with them. Please comment or message your suggestions! I suppose I could cut the ends off and use them as wrist bracers. Any other ideas?
(But also-- Hiruzen? That's a choice)
