Don’t mind me, I’m just babbling about OEATS real quick:
Glinda the Good (Patron Sorceress of the North)
Magic: Glinda is a summoner, a magic user who can manipulate things that don’t exist yet. She pulls objects out of thin air, summons defensive bubbles (or used for travel ofc), and can manifest different forms of light.
Symbolism: In Oz she is the symbol of creation, beauty, protection, loyalty, and fertility. She is represented by the Lion.
Other abilities: She has magnetic charm, calming presence/sleep magic, is an empath, and has lived multiple lifetimes through a potion forced upon her by Morrible, leaving her fragile, but also very wise.
Elphaba ((Wicked) Witch of the Westerly Winds)
Magic: Elphaba is telekinetic, a magic user who can manipulate things that do exist. She can wield all earthy elements, influence animals, and turn everyday things into deadly weapons.
Symbolism: Elphaba cannot create, like Glinda; but she can tear things apart to their most basic elements. She is a symbol of destruction, ferocity, knowledge, humility, and forgiveness. She is represented by the Tiger as well as the Chimpanzee.
Other abilities: Weather manipulation (we’ll get there), telepathy, dreamwalking, prophecy and foresight
Teacher: (former) Magdeline Morrible, Locasta
While separated, Glinda and Elphaba are both impressive sorceresses. Glinda though is physically fragile and loses a lot of her power when she’s suffering through pain, fear, or heartbreak. Her magic is purely defensive. Having taken an oath of protection, she cannot cause the death or harm of another directly as that is against her vow as a Patron Sorceress (known to be pacifists). Injury can be caused by refraction and deflection of an attack, but Glinda’s magic is not capable of hurting others outright.
Elphaba is a brute when it comes to magic and she can easily hurt or kill others with it, but it’s weak and ineffective when fueled by her anger, meaning its overall less likely to kill. Her magic is directly tied to her willpower, and is stronger when she uses it for good, rather than out of revenge or to cause harm.
Together they are easily the most powerful pair of magic users Oz has ever seen, direct foils to one another in personality and Magic to form a very intricate balance of power that represents Oz itself.
If anyone has other headcanons please feel free to drop them, I’d like to know ^^ these are my thoughts based on what’s already been written in the story lol.
