What are some of your favorite costumes from the Hunger Games movies? (Ballad included)
Really love all the costumes in TBOSAS, especially the tributes and Gaul’s costumes
Unfortunately think the OT falls too much into that 2010s aesthetic for their clothes an era I don’t care much for, like Effie’s costumes and kind of wish more of the movie kind of went for more stylisation like this

Not to be that guy, but the mentors had more on their plate and their own tributes to care for than to be scared of Haymitch going sober.
At most they could think it would suck for him way worse when Katniss dies.
You know if I am being real, I didn’t realize we were meant to see Finnick and Katniss as a found sibling relationship until Collins said so in interviews

1) Wiress was the worst SOTR character appearance and added nothing to the narrative and worse was such a nothing burger character on top of that
2) I wouldn’t want a career book because Collins has no idea how to write them compellingly at all and if we get one it would be defanged as hell
3) Annie is one of the worst treated character in the fandom and almost every take of her reeks of ableism and/or misogyny
4) The series is way more heteronormative than fans are willing to admit and the canon lgbt rep we have in the series is very poor

Lately ive been thinking a lot of career districts , now here's what I wondered. When did the other districts found out ? Was there an edition where during trainings the lesser districts looked at eachother thinking someone was strange ? Or was it when they noticed they were a little too eager to volunteer ? Sure they're better fed , but how can they be so confident ?
I like the theory the careers more or less originated during the 25th games where the wealthiest distrcits sent their best tributes.

Just had a potentially meaningless thought-
Rosa Hubermann from the Book Thief novel (especially in the earlier chapters) really reminds me of Mrs Mellark. The way she is physically and emotionally abusive throughout the story, how she clearly looks down on her husband (something not mentioned in the Hunger Games but seems canon to me) and the fact that the book thief takes place in Germany gave me a lil thought. The Merchants could be interpreted as Germanic descended because of their, for lack of better phrasing, extremely white look, with the blond hair, blue eyes and pale skin. Also that fact that at least 1 Merchant, Otho, has a name that is Germanic in origin. It was probably intended to be a reference to the Roman Emperor, but still (I’ve gotten German vibes from them for a while now, so plz just stay with me on this). So when I checked and remembered what Rosa’s name was in the Book Thief (out of curiosity, wondering if it would be funny to headcanon her having the same name as Mrs Mellark) and I realized her name connects with Snow’s trademark symbol, I was just like, yeah, that works. Her being one of the cruelest characters in the trilogy that we get much reference to, and also the only one that we know of to abuse Peeta besides Snow would make that parallel between them with the name Rosa work great for fanfiction writing purposes. I personally like the name Marta for her (I read it in @rosegardeninwinter ‘s fic The Silver Eyed Archer and loved it for her) but I still love the idea of this being her given name.
Anyone else really curious about the actual history between Asterid and Otho?
We know from the trilogy that Otho was clearly deeply in love with her (given he mentioned her to his five year old son) and that there was a possible engagement since he said he ‘wanted to marry her’, and Peeta even mentions that they knew each other growing up when he is on the roof with Katniss in an early chapter.
But in Sunrise on the Reaping, Haymitch never mentions Otho specifically in relation to Asterid, which I find strange considering he knows his best friend (Burdock) is hopelessly in love with her. I think if there had been an obvious relationship (or even friendship) between Otho and Asterid, he would’ve mentioned it in his internal monologue, maybe even seeing it as a reason Burdock shouldn’t pursue her (since he already thought it was near impossible they could really be together). The only friends Haymitch mentions Asterid having are Merrilee and Maysilee.
Otho specifically saying to Peeta ‘I wanted to marry her, but then she ran off to be with a coal miner’ makes me think there was some type of formal attachment, because it makes it sound like there was some expectation there. ‘I wanted to marry her, but-’ and his ‘but’ doesn’t have anything to due with him never gaining the nerve to ask her out, or her not reciprocating his feelings. At least, that’s not what he says.
When I first read the trilogy, I got the impression that Mr. Mellark was just pining for Asterid from afar his whole childhood (since she was said to be extremely beautiful and he came across as pretty shy/quiet), but a while ago I reread the scene on the rooftop where Peeta specifically says his and Katniss’ parents grew up together and knew each other, which means I’ve been rethinking that, and reexamining every piece of information we have about these two. If anyone else has any thoughts/opinions, please reblog or comment (if you feel like it).
