I'm guessing that not only Dictatious have lost his sight, but his pride as well. It would mean that he's afraid that Gunmar would see him as worthless and weak that Gunmar would kill him for that part.
Yup, that’s exactly how I see it!
When he still had his sight, he could move around freely and actually actively work towards carrying along Gunmar’s plans. And after all his years of service to Gunmar he got pretty cocky about his position too...
With his sight gone, he’s lost his self reliance. He has to literally keep ahold of another Gum-Gum, or Usurna, etc. just to move around. Definitely a major blow to the pride. Which is why he’s so dang desperate to the point of bsing visions from Morgana- he knows he’ll never be self reliant again, and that if he doesn’t make himself useful Gunmar will have no reason not to get rid of him. Which, considering how much Gunmar enjoys literally yeeting people against the wall, is not a good way to go.Â
