“Are you the reader or are you the read?” Thank you to @madewithlaurasfingers for this gorgeous letterpress print, which features the complete hidden message from all three books of #TheReaderTrilogy! 🌊 (The rest is hidden because spoilers! 👀) I love how art inspires art, and it is such an honor to see how readers can take inspiration from my work and use it to make something so unique and beautiful. 💙 . #tracichee #thereader #thespeaker #thestoryteller #wearenotfree #letterpress #letterpressprinting #bookstagram #bookworm #booklover #bibliophile #books #booknerd #bookish #book #igreads #instabook #reading #bookaddict #bookaholic #bookphotography #read #bookstagramfeature #booknerdigans #bookporn #booklove #instabooks #quotes #yalit https://www.instagram.com/p/CBiuLQ9ApP2/?igshid=1ngkqloq7px7r
"Leggere a voce alta, fare la doccia, fare l'amore e rimanere ancora un po' sdraiati uno di fianco all'altro - questo divenne il rituale dei nostri incontri ."
So, I knew this book was going to be good before I read it. I'd had it recommended to me more than once (mini-shoutout to @coffeebooksorme specifically for recommending it). The cover virtually promises it's going to a solid read. The premise is gripping: this is the story of a girl who owns a book in a world where reading doesn’t exist. I was so confident that it’d be a great read I selected it for my May SFF book club without even reading it in advance.
Let me tell you, The Reader exceeded these expectations.
This book has it all: pirates and magic, assassins and romance, prophesies and harsh reality. I don't think I've read anything quite like it before, but I'm absolutely hooked. The descriptions are amazing. The pacing is perfect. The characters are phenomenal, well-rounded, and fantastic.
What I really loved, though, was how this book tackles so many things without getting preachy. It has so much to say about violence, about idealism, about acting for the greater good vs acting for one's own good. It questions what it's like even when you're acting as someone else's voice--or when you don't have a voice of your own.
