No pics available because they are TEENY but we've had a minor infestation of some kind of gnat type creature for weeks now, and they seem to really love a) people and b) flinging themselves into any uncovered liquid they can find (they cannot swim). We can't figure out what they want with people, though. They don't seem to bite, they don't seem to want our food, but they will play the "is this bothering you I'm not touching you" game for hours or just walk all over my arms and hands going "???" and then leave. And I'm like what do you WANT. and then one tries to go up my nose lol
They are starting to disappear but I would still love to know what their deal is. Could they be trying to eat my skin salt? My cells? My thoughts?? My SOUL??? I will take any theories they will not explain themselves. 🤣
Without seeing them I couldn't say for sure obviously but fungus gnats and phorid flies are both common in houses and have a habit of flying directly into your face. I have no idea why. But I'm not one to denigrate anyone for their hobbies :)

I am saying this so gently. they lost 116 games to teams other than us I don't think they needed our help with that. (also even winning teams often have cheap seats available, especially for like, low-stakes weekday games. the mariners regularly advertise a $10 bargain night, which are not for like comfy nice cushioned seats with cupholders but the quality of the chair is presumably not the part that interests you)

Thank you for letting me know your location via IM! These are indeed gall wasps, most likely Belonocnema kinseyi. They use live oak trees as hosts and are native in your area!
I know it's not the clearest photo, I didn't take it lol. We found this guy passed out in the driveway in the cold rain, he would sort of stir for a few seconds if you bothered him though so I got a cup (which he would not go into but he sort of grabbed the edge so I just awkwardly carried him) and found a safer hiding spot. Body about as long as my whole thumb, but too bald and shiny to be a tarantula. The best I can find is he might have been a roaming male trapdoor spide, does that seem right? (Central TX)
It does indeed look like a trapdoor spider. Poor lil dude! Hope he was just sluggish from the cold but rip if he perished later. At least he didn't have to do it in the middle of the driveway :)

these paper wasps(?) would fly up under our roof overhang every day when it got too hot to exist, and they would just chill for a few hours until the horrible sun went away. apparently they liked it so much they've now stashed three children up there! (central tx)

bro. did you know that they make bath tubs that self heat to the exact temp you want and can maintain that temp and even self-fill to just the right volume with just a button press. standard american bathtubs are Pathetic in comparison. whenever we finally get a permanent home I'm gonna demand a fancy japanese bath.
