Based on what people have sent me this weekend I think Spooky Con went a lot better than RC for Lana.  I’ve yet to hear any stories about the autograph lines, but they clearly took security more seriously.  Which I’m glad about.  Other than a relatively minor incident which I’ll add to my next Queen’s Guard reblog it’s good.  Thank you everyone who went to Spooky and respected Lana’s space and time and had a good con for it.  Let’s all hope that things go well at FT3 in Paris next month.

I don’t care if it’s illegal, it’s rude, inappropriate and makes you an asshole not a fan, fans should behave supportive not invasive
I emphasize the illegality mostly because rude and inappropriate don’t seem to get into some people’s heads.
While I hate someone videoed Lana without permission and committed an invasion of privacy, if that is the worst thing that happens or the only thing that happens this weekend I would say it's a small improvement from the last con and hopefully showing a shift in convention behavior.
I agree.  It would have been too much to hope that there would be no inappropriate behavior.  And I completely understand the people who are saying she didn’t leave the party because of the incident.  I would have been surprised if she did. Â
But the videoing did occur, the person who did it defended themselves on twitter claiming that Lana had no privacy because she was paid to be there.
This is why the boundaries conversation is important.  Because it didn’t even occur to me to put “don’t record her in private conversation” on a list.  But let me give you a hypothetical for why this could be really over lines.  Lana has said repeatedly how many times people talk to her about how Regina has saved their lives.  There are Swen who talk to her about their sexuality and how much SQ is important to them.  Hell I didn’t have a personal conversation with Lana but I had a very personal one with Emilie de Ravin I certainly wouldn’t want recorded and spread on the internet. Â
The boundaries conversation is not just about Lana.  It’s about the fans interacting with Lana as well.

I've read a lot of comments about the VIP party at Spooky Empire last night. Some say that she left early because she had plans with her family, others say it was because she got pissed about that girl filming her while she was having a conversation idk. I trust facts but I can't find the video, so my question is: was this video uploaded somewhere? Cause I'd like to see it myself to see how Lana actually reacted. Thanks in advance :) x
I do not have the link and frankly even if I did I wouldn’t share it because I wouldn’t want to reward the person with the hits. Â
I don’t think it matters if Lana had plans or not.  It was an inappropriate thing to do, and as I keep trying to tell people, it may not be illegal in that state but it is illegal in many states to record people in private conversations without their knowledge.  Which should tell you exactly how inappropriate this was.
Perhaps it's just me, but I also feel as if people who aren't at the conventions ask for a lot? Which sounds strange, but people are told no phones--no photos and they complain. People who aren't at the convention want to know "what she's wearing? What did she talk about? What did she do?" They have no 'right' to know that--yet people who are going to conventions are feeding into that by trying to be inappropriate. Lana may be at a convention, but it's possible to have a convo (1)
That isn't focused on the tv show. Those conversations are private. I hope Lana doesn't stop going to conventions, because I think she genuinely loves her fans--but I also can't blame her. There are some pretty common sense boundaries that largely circle back to - Lana is a stranger to you.  Don’t do anything to or with her that you would not do with a stranger.  And you would not record a strangers conversations at a party.
I'm afraid Lana will get to the point where cons make her nervous or apprehensive or straight up scare her. I'd be so tense the entire time I was at a con if people touched me without permission, crowded my personal space, or I knew they might be filming me
Yes. Â That is the danger. Â At some point it will likely become unhealthy for her. Â But I really do think we can change the fandom culture. Â We just have to raise awareness.
