Baking calms her down. But right now, the only thing Jiyeon managed to do was to burn the strawberry macarons. They were ruined and not even the sweet aroma of strawberry jam was enough to bring her back to her normal calm self. Not when her mind kept on going back to the argument she and her brother had. Her blood boiled in her veins but, more than angry, she was sad. Disappointed. Of all people, Seojun was the last person she thought would be against her relationship with Hyunseong.
It all started because Jiyeon asked him for advice. Her brother had far more dating experience than her and she thought that maybe he could help. Given that he was a boy and that Hyunseong happened to be one as well, what did they like to do? What kind of places did they like to go? What were the doâs and donâtâs of a relationship taking its first steps? They were innocent questions, she thought, things that you should be able to talk about with your sibling. What did she get in return, though? The chance of being called a fool, a naive little girl who couldnât see what was right in front of her eyes. And what was that, she asked him. The fact that he was an older guy trying to take advantage of a young girl. Silence followed his statement since she was too shocked to say something. Mom and dad would want you to focus on your studies, not on dating an actor, Seojun had told her. Mom and dad. How dared he to bring their parents to the conversation and use them as an argument against her? They were dead. And the dead didnât have an opinion.
Was that what your relationship with Maya was? You taking advantage of her? Jiyeon wasnât proud of what she said. She knew how much he loved Maya. How much he still does. ButâŚwas he the only one who deserved a chance to be in love with someone? What did it matter to him if the person she chose was younger or older than her, when he and Maya had a similar age gap? How could he say something so nasty about someone he saw once? Worst than insulting her, Seojun was insulting Hyunseong and she would not allow it. But Jiyeon canât think straight when sheâs angry and so she stormed out to the only place she could think of, the only place she could be alone this late at night: the Dew Drop Stop.
Even now, she was unable to cool off and it reflected on her baking. Jiyeon gripped on the trayâs borders and stared at the burnt tops and bottoms, a poor attempt at self-control. She didnât even attempt to wipe away her tears or hold back her sobs when she saw Hyunseong coming through the door; she didnât even question him about how he got there or how he knew where she was. âOppa,â Jiyeon sniffed, holding up the tray so he could see the mess she made, âI messed up. I-I burnt themâŚâ
