Staycation Inspiration in The Natural State
As the world toys with slowly re-opening, state parks in Arkansas are opening again (guidelines are here) and likely to see lots of activity as the weather warms up. How do you choose where to go, what to take and how to enjoy our beautiful Natural State? Let us help!
Be sure to check out City Supply for all things outdoors (must-haves: the Arkansas Campgrounds 2020 print and map – see opening image), like their portable solo stove (above). Basically a campfire in a box. Want to take a more woodsy approach? Check out The Book Of Building Fires. If you are planning to cook over an open flame or on a grill (or even at home), City Supply is also a source for Zephyr Foods, pasture-raised U.S. Black Angus beef.
The Buffalo National River is an Arkansas treasure and is OPEN as of Friday, May 15th. You can find all the information about what is open and what to expect here. During this phase of re-opening, kayaks, canoes, and raft rental will be available, but limited. Shuttle service looks a little different, too. Also, always a good idea to check water levels before you hit the current!
Bandanas From Mollyjogger
Face cover? Map? Hairband or ponytail holder? You decide! Whatever you do, we suggest you pick up one of these bandanas from Mollyjogger! They are an authentic heritage brand, based in our precious Ozark Mountains, celebrating the region’s unique history of outdoor recreation and folklore. Check them out for all things Ozarks and outdoors!
Listen, we’re not all ready to get outdoors or venture into what our new normal looks like. Totally ok! Hillfolk in Bentonville at 8th St. Market has a great way to nod to the places we’re looking forward to visiting...when ready, of course! Check out this Buffalo River tea towel designed in collaboration with local artist Tram Colwin. Great for gifts or just a little treat for yourself.
