I hate to contribute all the negativity between milevens and bylers, but I do just need to say.
I saw someone saying something like ‘all the bylers’ arguments are about tiny things in the background like mike’s bedroom walls and stuff that honestly “means nothing” in the grand scheme of things’ and like.
My guy. Have you forgotten that this is a TV SHOW, CREATED by people? Not real life? There are entire teams of people who were paid simply to decide what innocuous objects to put in the background of EVERY SINGLE SHOT.
I am currently in school for Art, and if all goes well, pursuing a career in EXACTLY this. (Costume/Production design for film). At the student level, with like 100-200 dollar budgets and 2-3 month pre-prod timelines, there is definitely some slightly less thought out set decoration, I will grant you. But even on student projects, a LOT of planning and thought goes into things like posters on walls and lighting and ESPECIALLY color palettes. Imagine how much you can do with YEARS, and MILLIONS of dollars, and HUNDREDS of people?
All for some mileven to say it all (and I quote) “means nothing”?
These things are made by artists, for the consumption of their audiences. EVERYTHING is intentional, and you can bet they had so much fun deciding what to tease where, and how. To say that dissecting the backgrounds is overboard and delusional is exactly contrary to the artists’ intention.
The same can be said about plot decisions- this story has been crafted by writers, unlike real people’s lives. They will craft a story that is satisfying, compelling, thematically poetic, etc. Real life doesn’t work like that; all the evidence we have for byler as a likely outcome for s5 would NOT be evidence for a couple in real life, because real life isn’t created by artists to be thematically appealing. In their desperation to deny byler, many milevens seem to have forgotten that *this* story was brought into the world by *artists*.
*steps down and packs up my soap box before I get pelted with fruit by people who don’t remember the difference between art and real life*
Have you noticed how often the word or implication of “fall” is in RWBY? It’s fucking FASCINATING
As far back as volume 1, the protagonists were launched into the air and needed to have “landing strategies” as they fell
Then they were in a forest called Forever Fall
The fall of beacon, of course
Cinder Fall
The Fall maiden being such a significant lynchpin in the Fall of Beacon and Pyrrha’s death
Ironwood’s fall into tyranny
Ambrosious’ warning not to fall
Falling into the Ever After
A book called After The Fall
Multiple volume openings using the symbolism of the characters falling
Yang saying she feels like if she lets go she’ll fall, Blake replying they’re already falling, creating the first time “fall” has been used in a positive way which is really interesting!?
I’m sure there’s more, too
I don’t know what it means but it’s THERE and it’s SO INTERESTING
Have we talked about how Taylor has common themes with each teammate when she meets them and they foreshadow something about her final form as Khepri? (Also ship names being based on bug things makes me feel wickedly gleeful)
• Taylor + Lisa = SmugBug = uncanny insights, could be mistaken for precognition ; reckless self endangerment
• Taylor + Rachel = WolfSpider = sudden not-necessarily-proportional violence ; brain no longer maps to human interaction
• Taylor + Grue = Dark&Creepy = obfuscation, macho power displays ; power theft
• Taylor + Regent = QueenBee = false sense of emotional detachment ; controlling people but not their minds
• Taylor + Imp = Fly On The Wall = unobtrusively spies on others ; forgetting
separated artwork

The Beast of Hadingley Hill - HoratioMarissa
Fanart for my all time favorite webcomic rn that I felt absolutely inspired by. If you're looking for a webcomic that beautifully ties in fantasy and suspense, this artist is AMAZING. They also have another webcomic done mostly in gray scale that is more horror leaning. I really look up to this artist :))
The Stargazer & The Star —
She spent her nights looking up.
With cold hands wrapped around warm mugs, pages filled with notes she barely understood yet, and eyes that learned the sky by patience rather than magic, she did not expect the stars to answer her.
She only hoped they were listening. And somewhere beyond sight, one of them was.
The Star had watched for a long time. She did not descend in fire or command the night to part. She came slowly, like light reaching a distant shore, careful not to break what she touched.
When they finally met, it was not grand. It was gentle.
A hand lifted. Another answered. For a moment, the distance between earth and space grew small enough to cross.
And when the night returned to silence, the Stargazer was not the same.
She carried the stars with her now — not in the sky, but in her heart.
