if someone wanted to bring more night world muses into the tvdu, what's your recommendations for how to do it? and who do you want to see most?
okay the way i literally screamed on the inside, i love you for asking this question. a thousand hugs always and forever @thekindling!
first of all: this is going to be a doozy, i'm so sorry, my friend.
second of all: my recommendation is to figure out which show you want to take as a basis and start building from there. i know i jokingly said that i put the shows and the books in a blender but it's more like using elements from the books to fortify the shows.
my basis is legacies, because that perfectly imperfect show had just the right amount of ingredients so that i could write the night world into the narrative: hope mikaelson kills a dragon girl in 1x02 and in my head, that just immediately translated into "hey, what if that dragon girl was the same dragon princess from the night world books?" and the whole malivore plotline (which most people were ambivalent about or straight up hated, which is understandable) became a lot more bearable for me when i was like "malivore is a part of the dark dimension".
and when i got annoyed about kaleb hawkins not getting a proper backstory as to who turned him, i was like: "he was turned by rowan redfern."
and i tied hope mikaelson becoming a true tribrid to the old powers rising again (which is essentially apocalyptic).
along the way, i managed to give myself enough wiggle-room to be able to drop flori into tvd (show and novel) without having to compromise on the important parts of her canon.
sidenote: i live on the wikia (both the tvdu and the night world/the secret circle one) because i love to do research and i love to figure out how to slot in my character without disrupting the established story; it's like a puzzle.
i also sort of yanked all of the characters forward through time a bit. so rather than following the novel timeline to the letter, i mostly follow the show timeline(s).
and last but not least: i would love to see any and all characters, to be honest. but i'll do you a solid and make you a list.
thea and blaise harman, because those are her cousins and flori loves them already. (but would they love her back? that's the question!)
lupe acevedo, a half-human / half-werewolf hybrid whose mom is a werewolf and whose dad was human, so you could play with a sort of inverted red riding hood type of situation.
poppy north, because the bestie vibes would be off the charts (though her story comes with hefty tws so please be careful).
james rasmussen, because i have the headcanon that flori's dad raul worked with james' dad jasper as they are / were both psychologists. i do believe they could be friends too.
phillip north, a lost witch i.e. someone who does not know of their magical heritage. what's interesting, though, is that phillip - who is as straight laced as they come - finds out about his witch heritage but chooses to remain in the human world rather than jumping in head first into the night world.
aradia crawley, the "blind maiden" of all the witches. she is a blind seer and often gets visions and is the one to pass along prophecies as well and she holds such a high, exalted position at only eighteen years old!
jezebel "jez" redfern, because she's a dhampir who goes from being in a gang and hunting humans for sport to hunting vampires to protect humans. flori would be so intimidated by her, i feel.
sarah strange, because she gets referred to as looking akin to a dryad despite being classed as a human on the wikia, which i find very cool (and my headcanon is that she's, indeed, a dryad, and there was also a dryad in legacies so i'm not pulling it out of my ass) and she's also the only one thus far with two soulmates - mal and kierlan.
mal harman, because he's a heretic and is a vampire(-witch hybrid) with the surname of a witch which goes against naming conventions. i genuinely believe that flori would have a soft spot for him.
oc's you could make:
if you want a witch, you could make your character the child of circe harman, for instance, as she is only described as "tall and lovely" and a "witch of great renown".
if you want a vampire, you could make them a member of the blackthorn family as there are only two of them left, morgead blackthorn and his mom. the last one, elodie - while still alive - married out of the family.
alternatively, you could also make your vampire a member of the holt family with a vendetta against jez redfern, who accidentally killed pierce holt. (there isn't much known of the holt family at all so you could do whatever you want.)
if you want a wolf, you've got free rein too. there aren't very many of them in the night world books. so you could easily tie them to any of the existing packs of the tvdu like the crescents or the north atlantic pack or the appalachian pack. fun fact: tyriq withers was in one of the legacies episodes [3x06] as a wolf student ;)
if you want a shapeshifter, there are many animals to choose from and you can go wild with it. but if you want your character, for instance, to be a dragon shifter, you could easily make them part of the drache family - they are shapeshifting royalty - and there isn't all that much that's known about them.
if you want a hybrid: there's precedence for hybrids in the books, but they're mostly human / witch or human / wolf or human / vampire but who's to say you can't make your oc a vampire/wolf hybrid or a witch/wolf hybrid. (vivienne lescheres-mikaelson is a rare example of a witch/wolf, after all.)
face claims you could use:
the cast of pll original sin and pll summer school
the cast of cobra kai
the cast of shadowhunters
the cast of the vampire academy tv show
the cast of the first kill show on netflix
the cast of vampires (also on netflix)
the cast of that winx club show that was on netflix as well
the cast of the chilling adventures of sabrina
the cast of hemlock grove
the cast of true blood
the cast of a discovery of witches
the cast of the anne-rice verse (iwtv / the mayfair witches etc)
