During my time in undergrad I suffered through some times I didn’t realize were as difficult as I ignored what was in front of me and pushed through using weed and alcohol to mask as much as I could. I found it difficult to be me when I had expectations or perceived expectations coming from the groups I were involved in. One glimpse of peace came when @trusparta put me up on @vastaire2090 and @cannibaloxigc. Back then, @trusparta had a crew of guys called Indigenous Womb. They were a hip-hop collective and they were doing their thing. I so badly wanted to be part of the crew but I was more of a spoken artist than an emcee. At any rate, when I heard @vastaire2090 on this Atoms Family EP on a song called Cholesterol, I felt like shit was understood. @vastaire2090 had this cadence and way with spitting that spoke to me. It was like homie was in my head and spewing shit I would contemplate; it was crazy!!! Listening to @cannibaloxigc was the breath of fresh air I needed. I identified with them especially @vastaire2090. I still play The Cold Vein at least once every few months just to remind myself of how dope expression can be. His first solo joint Look Mom... No Hands was a blessing!!! So much talent and skill and wit; homie inspired some of my best writing ever!!! Few artists make me crave syllables and word play; Vast was the guy that fed my inspiration for years!!! A God Emcee for real!!! He’s in my top 10 favorite emcees of all time.
