what is the difference between messer and ptx ?
so PTX is Mitch, Kirstin, Scott, Kevin, & Matt (or Avi, or neither). they formed in 2011 and their discography is mostly a capella & a capella inspired music. they have i think over 300 songs total? and they do pop/r&b/edm/dance/country/rap/whatever but a solid half of their catalogue is dedicated to xmas.
they are a family-friendly group (when they behave. looking directly at mitch & scott when i say this...) that have a multi-generational audience, and they do really big flashy months-long tours with costume changes and choreo and props in huge stadium venues (that I had to miss last xmas cuz it was expensive & i could not afford it. id rather save the money to support mitch as messer. my bias #MyBias)
they have 3 grammys & a hollywood star & over 20M subscribers on youtube & 3M monthly listeners on spotify

Messer is Mitch's solo project he just started releasing music for in 2021. he's only got 24 songs including collabs with other artists & he focuses on electronic/pop/dance/goth stuff.
its mostly original music and his vibe is often darker & more experimental. its definitely a super personal project and gives Mitch a chance to show another side of him, and gives fans a chance to peek inside his brain. nobodys ever heard of Messer however & you can buy a ticket to see him sing at a bar for 20 us dollars. he's done 3 shows so far & i've been to all of them despite them all being several-hour plane rides away from me bc. i love him. thats my wife
he has less than 90k subscribers on youtube and just over 7k monthly listeners on spotify & more people should listen to his music its really good & im so proud of him for finally doing his own thing π₯°
tl;dr ptx is a wholesome acapella group mostly popular around xmas time and messer is the underground cryptid indie alias of their tenor who sings about gay sex mental illness and the devil
