A professor Lupin Hermione ship can be really awesome or really Lolita creepy. Noticing that Hermione is really steadfast about Lupins inherent goodness and supporting him isn’t wrong. If they grew up at the same time she’d be a super great friend in his life and a really great compliment to the things he values. Wanting them to be together in canon from POA is not kosher but the whole point of fics is achieving something that isn’t exactly canon
I agree! I honestly hate creepy fics. I generally don’t read fics where the focus is on the school years, ya fics/books aren’t my cup of tea. I like to read about adults because I can’t relate or feel much bond with such young characters. So I prefer post Hogwarts fics (also because I like some adult content from time to time xD and reading something like that about teenagers makes me cringe, it’s just creepy). I read HP twice and I’ve never thought about shipping Hermione and Lupin there. Fanfiction/fanart is something different, everyone can take a character and do whatever they want with it. When an artist draws Harry in his thirties, having kids, being married to Ginny, it’s not creepy because he’s not a teenager anymore, he behaves and thinks like an adult and we see him as such, despite the fact we grew up with him and saw him when he was a 11 yo child. And in fanfics/fanart changing, adding or erasing whatever fact we want, breaking the canon rules is totally normal. We have muggle aus where there is no magic (so essential for canon HP!), crossovers with characters that have never seen HP universe, some characters go back to life, some change entirely.Yelling “but this wouldn’t work in canon!” or “but the canon is different!” makes no sense. Fanfics and fanarts are separate pieces of work, the source material gives us some idea about the characters and the world but that’s not always the rule, and how the story/character development goes can be completely different. Thanks for the message, mate :) Sorry for my rambling xD
