wait just realized 15 being the last confirmed doctor works so well for my "14 eventually grows into the valeyard" propaganda

Watching Rivals at the same time as Trial of a Time Lord is entertaining. The Master said that the Valeyard was an incarnation of the Doctor's dark side, but I wasn't seeing it. He was just some tight-arse jobsworth of a prosecutor. None of that is 'Doctory,' of course, but I didn't register it as the Doctor's 'dark side,' either. It's not him at all. Not Six nor any previous incarnation. And it's not like this Time Lord is a raging egomaniac with plenty of weird shit to exploit.... They just didn't bother their arses spinning out all the worst traits of the Doctor (and Six! he's not short of them!) into a living, breathing person. Rather, they wrote the Valeyard as a tropey bad-guy prosecutor. So what?
However.... Tony Baddingham....it's like David Tennant found every dank, fucked-up shadow and crevasse in the Tenth Doctor's psyche and then amplified it to 11.
Tony for Valeyard? I'm putting the signs on my lawn.
The Valeyard (Michael Jayston in Doctor Who - ''The Trial of a Time Lord'', 1986), seen by the talented artist Simon Wicks.
Let's try to make sense out of the Valeyard....The Master said he was an amalgamation of the Doctor's darker instincts, from between his 12th and 13th regenerations.
How does that even happen? Everyone has dark, intrusive thoughts, but taking all those and reconstituting them into a living, breathing person (or Time Lord) sure takes some technology. There's got to be easier ways to prosecute a sham trial. And there wasn't anything special about the guy. He was just an arsehole of a prosecutor, and at no point did I think, "Oh, yeah, he's got all the traits of the Doctor that really suck."
Makes very little sense in light of NuWho. Are you including the War Doctor? Did he appear between 11 and 12, or 12 and 13. How? We saw Matt Smith turn into Peter Capaldi, then Capaldi turn into Jodie Whittaker, so.... Are you including Morbius Doctors (if you buy that theory)? Well, he could have been some Morbius incarnation.
Perhaps the Master is talking bollocks again. He's still standing beneath the Doctor's window with his boombox like the creepy, stalkery ex that he is. 'I totally found this dark version of you to love me.' Did you? Did you really?
