This is my hands down absolute favorite city flag. The 9 stars represent the 9 states that were made from Virginia’s former territories. The figure on the center is riding a “James River bateau” a boat famously used to transplant tobacco downriver. The blue represents the sky, and the red represents the James river.

A new flag for Newport News, Virginia?
So as it turns out, Newport News, the city I go to college in, doesn't actually have its own flag, so here's my attempt to make one.
The wheel represents the absolutely massive impact that the navy and the shipbuilding industry has on Newport News. It's located only a short drive from the largest naval base in the world, and the shipbuilding industry employs a massive amount of its population.
The blue represents the James River, an incredibly important route to the cities livelihood. The green represents the massive amounts of biodiversity and conservation efforts being put into the area. The white represents the spirit of the people of Newport News.
