has anyone else thought about how simon seeing the shadowman in the sub before his death, foreshadowing how he will die or maybe even representing his future self in a time loop, is like,,, exactly what happened to nellie in the haunting of hill house?

here's eleanor crain, seeing "the bent neck lady", who appears at random times just to watch her ominously

in both cases, the character's are seeing the dead, mutilated versions of themselves before they meet that fate. it makes me wonder with how the shadowman was acting (watching simon at the console, then sitting at the console itself) whether it was actually simon in there, conscious of his death like nellie, and doomed to watch his life play out up until his demise. you could probably do something fun with this where little simon has night terrors / hallucinations like little nellie, in which he's been seeing the shadowman all of his life
