Hi there!! Sorry I lost this for a minute but I was just chatting with a friend about The Pairing and it reminded me I never did answer this--anyway the Pairing!! It's by Casey McQuiston (of Red White and Royal Blue fame) and while it's definitely not the same as The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes I feel like the vibes are close enough that they'll appeal.

It's another bi for bi romance with some Gender Stuff happening and it's FUN. Will probably make you hungry--the food descriptions are AMAZING.

If you're looking for more historical fiction specifically then I highly recommend A Shore Thing by Joanna Lowell.

This book has EVERYTHING. If by everything you mean bicycle races, science, feisty ladies, rakish trans gentlemen, and FEELINGS about how COMPLICATED GENDER IS. And all of that is very much everything to me.

Also I just realized both of these books have a main character named Kit which is extra funny because the first/companion book to Marian Hayes is The Queer Principles of Kit Webb which isn't the same exact dynamic but both Marian and Rob are in it so you'll probably enjoy it. (Also, Cat Sebastian's written a GAZILLION books--Marian Hayes is probably still my favorite but they're all pretty great.)

For anyone curious, the list referenced was my Still Queer Bi The Way book list--it's relationships that pass for straight at first glance but very much AREN'T. A lot of bi, some trans, some ace. Some a combination of all of the above.

Wanting to write a polytrix fic inspired by the book "the pairing" from Casey mcquiston but first I need to

A) finish the damn book

B) discover how to AO3 works regarding fic posting

And C) write a whole plot and some good chapters for this work...

It shouldn't shock me to learn Theo thought their exit from my life was easy for me. As long as we've known each other, Theo's great misconception has been that people don't miss them. It's hard for them to believe that they have so much to offer, that people want them around and think of them fondly when they're gone. They don't expect anyone to care if they leave. It's affected us before, and often--when I moved to New York, when they dropped out of school, when we'd have a tense conversation and they'd avoid me for days. Under pressure, they would vanish, and they loved themselves so little they were surprised when it hurt me.

Just finished reading The Pairing by Casey McQuiston.

I am in love with this book. I knew I was gonna love it, because it's European summer vacation combined with exes to lovers, two of my favorite tropes. But wow. This book is just... perfect.

I fell in love with Theo so much reading their pov, that when it switched to Kit I was a little disappointed, because I still wanted to be in Theo's head. And then I fell so much equally in love with with Kit, that I knew if it went back to Theo's pov, I would miss him.

I also fell in love with the tour, and everyone in it. The Calums are my favorite side characters, and I hope they got their happy ending.

And l, of course, fell in love with Frabisio,

The Pairing is a roller-coaster of emotions, and at the same time, soothing and peaceful. Casey strung me along for glorious ride.
