turns out i still fuckin love titus andronicus's album the monitor, like, a lot
most of the songs on the album have some goddamn artistry in the lyrics, from "you ain't never been a virgin, kid, you were fucked from the start" to "solidarity's gonna give a lot less than it takes" - and it has some fantastic sound clips of great american speeches
because the idea of connecting breakups, homesickness, infidelity, growing up, and rich assholes to the american civil war is like. still pretty fuckin cool
but more than anything it's an album so deeply connected to the band's home state that it makes me wish i had come from new jersey. it's just really fuckin cool okay
