This might change in the near future, but I felt like while Temptation is obviously Fixation’s enemy, Fixation doesn’t have a true opposite to his concept. And as someone from a fandom that does have a similar “fandom propagator vs fandom discourager” duo, I wanted to make a character like that.

I thought it would be interesting to explore what would drive an entity to discourage participation in the EXE community- so I pulled from my own experience. And I made this little guy! Exhaustion.

Exhaustion is not a direct mouthpiece for my gripes, he is an extreme logical end of the emotions me and a lot of my friends feel. He is also not supposed to be a direct commentary on specific real-world fandom events. Every design decision made with him has a point and is done with a level of intention unless stated otherwise.

I say all of that because the reason I’ve avoided posting him has mostly been due to a fear of people misunderstanding the point of him, which is to be a genuinely interesting spin on his concept and to bring comfort or a sign to those who want to hear what he has to say.

Ultimately two things lit a fire under my ass to finally post him:

1, the Fixation album being made that is revealing new characters. I’m excited, but just in case Exhaustion’s concept is done by a member of that cast I want my version on record before it came out just for the sake.

2, I think I’m going to be taking Exhaustion’s advice for a decent while. I’m taking a long fucking break from EXE and somewhat Sonic in general. I know I’m already pretty inactive on this blog, but I’d like for people to officially stop considering me an “exe person”. I love these stories, these characters, the people I’ve grown close with. But I’m tired. Things are on a downhill turn, I’ve seen more drama and been through more unnecessary stress than in any other community I have before, and thus my spark is fading steadily. So- expect posts here to be even less frequent, and just because I reblog/post something doesn’t mean I’m “back”, just that I’m hanging around for a sec or emptying my drafts.
