What do the Hazbin crew and Lucifer think of the inhabitants of Wonderland, such as the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter in Alastor in Wonderland Au?
Phew, thereโs a lot of characters to think about, so for now just narrow it down to the most popular ones.
Most of the inhabitants stick to Wonderland, but there are a few who follow him to Hell appearing as Alastorโs Shadow Companions to everyone but him (if heโs hallucinating them as their normal selves or its magic is ambiguous). When they wish to speak to anyone other than Alastor himself, they speak through his microphone or a nearby radio.
The Cheshire Cat is the one most well-known of his shadow companions and is primarily seen around Alastor, taking on a similar role to Canon!Alastorโs shadow buddy, but has also been known to frighten the Hazbins staring from the shadows with only his floating eyes and smile visible. He operates like a giant creepy, smart-mouthed therapy cat and is Alastor most loyal companion despite the ribbing.
Sometimes, Cheshire and Husk can be seen hissing and swipping at eachother for seemingly no reason.
I imagine during the first few weeks that Charlie, Vaggi and Angel Dust didnโt think much of Cheshire, assuming due to his similar smile and incorporeal form that he was no more than an extension of Alastorโs powers. Only to have a heart attack when he uses the radio to speak to them while Alastor was away on โbusiness.โ
Cheshire: *curled up on the floor in front of a radio, seemingly asleep* Angel: *sips his drink* Smiles didnโt take his shadow with him today? Husk: *shoots a warning look, that is ignored* Vaggi: *eyeing the cat warily* Unfortunately, not. Angel: Shame, it gives me the creeps. Husk: *rolls eyes at them* Oh boy... Cheshire: *lifts his head up to stare directly at Angel, eyes flashing* The Radio: *crackles on* Cheshire: *mouth opens and closes to the radio* How paradoxical. I am given to understand that most would consider arachnids such as yourself to be far more menacing. Angel: *spits out his drink* Vaggi: *startles, bringing out the spear* Angel: WAS THAT YOU?! YOU CAN TALK!! Cheshire: As is evident, I can also see and hear. Angel: *flushes in embarrassment, before mutturing to himself* Sorry... damn, that is a surprisingly attractive voice. Is this a cat thing? Vaggi: *accusingly* And Alastor didnโt think to tell us this? Hell, why didnโt you tell us earlier? Cheshire: Why would we need to tell you? He introduced me by name, and you all witnessed conversation between me and his contracts several times since we moved in. This wasnโt a closely guarded secret, Ms Vagatha, you simply never paid attention. And, speaking frankly, I had no wish to converse with the one who threatened my charge with an exorcistโs spear. I hope you donโt intend greet all potential clients the same way.
With the White Rabbit, @rosewillow666 made the suggestion here that he acts as a sort co-ordinator, popping up to remind Alastor the time, any appointments he has and to not be late, late, late! He partners up with Niffty and Nounou to prevent Alastor from working himself into an early second-grave; reminding him of errands he needs to complete outside the hotel (time for your walk!), to report on his contracts (talk with your friends!), time to cook and eat dinner (fun and nourishment!), etc.
Like ughโฆ Susan, he is one of the few capable of steamrollering through Alastorโs protests, earning the Hazbinโs admirationโฆ until he turned his attention on them.
Suddenly, they got a shadow rabbit bossing them around, frantically and aggressively ushering them to organise the room for the upcoming scheduled Circle Time. Charlie was simultaneously charmed and annoyed when he found her Redemption Mind Map and organised it for her.
Hatter, Hare & Dormouse are always around during Alastorโs tea parties.
Like discussed in this post, Sir Pentious and his Eggboiz are the particularly familiar with them, as Alastor found Pentiousโs antics amusing enough to invite him to tea parties in the past and the snake was happy to be invited to an Overlordโs anything! Hatter and Pentious even tinkered on their machines together!
