I have to pop in to shout out a new Minneapolis band!
When I was listening to The Current's "Local Show", I just had to check which band was playing because I was really digging the sound. Saw the name Megasound and thought, "wow, I hope that is a Josie & the Pussycats reference!"
Luckily, they were also interviewed later in the show so I found out that it is most deliberately a Josie & the Pussycats reference!
They are a side project made up of members from Bad Bad Hats and Party Nails. Their sound is very inspired of the early 2000s movies and pop-punk.
Their debut album came out on Friday and I am obsessed! Cannot wait to see them in St. Paul this coming Friday :)
