I’M SO HAPPY YOU ASKED! But are they enemies?Mardyne: Yes, we are.HyĂ«ndril: *Looks resigned* Mardyne certainly thinks so. EXPLAINING:They’re brothers, HyĂ«ndril is the eldest and by far the wisest of them both, and for his wisdom he was favoured by Ainär, God of Sacred Darkness, and had the respect of IlmariĂ«n, Goddess of Oblivion— two of the three known as the Firstborn, the first beings to come into existence. Mardyne is the younger brother, the golden god who rules over Desire. Selfish, capricious and cruel, he believed himself to be more deserving of Ainär and IlmariĂ«n’s respect and admiration than HyĂ«ndril. However, back then the combined might of the Three Firstborn was enough to keep Mardyne’s animosity on a leash, and his and HyĂ«ndril’s disagreements were nothing more than petty disagreements. Then Regnör—youngest of the Firstborn and God of Heavenly Light— fell from grace. War raged in the primeval Celestial Realm. Ainär sacrificed himself to create the Black Realm, where Regnör and his demons were imprisoned. And IlmariĂ«n distanced herself from the other Gods, laying the foundations to the Dream Realm.Mardyne wanted power and thought HyĂ«ndril a threat. HyĂ«ndril didn’t care for power and just wanted to be left alone. Their petty arguments turned into devastating fights since Mardyne would not be persuaded his brother didn’t want his place as King (Which he gave to himself) and HyĂ«ndril had to defend himself. AelĂan couldn’t bear to see her brothers fighting, her family falling apart, and she’d rather sacrifice herself and see them alive than to let them destroy each other.Mardyne is still angry about the whole thing. HyĂ«ndril was devastated by the loss of AelĂan but is just relieved he doesn’t have to fight his brother anymore. And this is a very distilled version of how the world was created! Ta-daaa!
