Iâve started my daughterâs pin board. I even transferred some from my own board onto hers. Thatâs love and sacrifice, people! đđ¤
Is everyone else still here? Its so hard to walk away from this moment. Beautiful and sad at the same time. So much I want to see this family happen. #mayansmc #mayansfx #thatslove #ClaytonCardenas #carlabaratta https://www.instagram.com/p/B3KmB9XAa5i/?igshid=wtd57jp9j7np
The Olive Theory ... or the Crunchy Fries Theory
My Facebook Status on July 27, 2015 I just learned that my husband loves crunchy french fries. All these years (almost 12 total) he's given me the crunchy fries and I thought he didn't like them. In fact, they're his favorite but he gives them to me because he knows I love them. I feel so loved âĄâĄâĄ
I am still in shock that for over a decade of togetherness, my husband willingly handed me all the crunchy French fries for my enjoyment. I honestly never knew he loved crunchy French fries and in fact, thought he preferred the soggy French fries. It felt like an act of fate, or âmeant to beâ that we could easily split up the fries every time, myself with the crunchy fries and he with the soggy fries. This simple act of sacrifice is small in scale, but speaks volumes of how he loves me.
Our âCrunchy Fry Theoryâ is very similar to the Olive Theory, as depicted on one of our shared favorite television shows How I Met Your Mother. In this pilot episode, main character, Ted Mosby, explains the Olive Theory to Robin Scherbatsky. As explained on the unofficial Wikipedia page, âThe Olive Theory is based on Lily and Marshall. Ted describes the theory to Robin in the Pilot episode. Marshall hates olives, but Lily loves them, and in Ted's opinion, that's what makes them a great couple; perfect balance.â Yet by the end of the episode, it is revealed that Marshall actually likes olives and always gave them to Lily because she liked it. Thus changing the idea of âperfect balanceâ but of making it work.
Now, with knowledge of our mutual love of crunchy French fries, we share all the fries together. It is sweeter knowing he would still give me the crunchies. Our so-called perfect balance is more about sharing and working together. We donât have everything in common which is great because then there would be no chance of experiencing new things. Differences in a relationship help creating bonds through sharing.
If you take anitem to an auction and ask how much it is worth, the answer is obvious: Whatever someone is willing to pay. The worth of an item is determined by one simple standard ⌠the highest price paid. Yet we often ignore this practical equation when it relates to our own value. Many who struggle with low self-worth say, âIâve made too many mistakes. I donât deserve happiness. No one can really love me. I must do as much as I can to earn approval from others.â This kind of person becomes a human âdoingâ instead of a human being. The truth is we all fall short and fail. The Bible says ⌠âWe all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own wayâ (Isaiah 53:6Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)). We all have sinned and we all need forgiveness. But does failure diminish our value? The purpose of failure is to learn what doesnât work. Consequently, with enough failures, we discover what does work. Just because you may fail does not mean you are a failure. Look at inventions developed around the world throughout history. Few were successful from the very start. Most were born out of many repetitive failures. And how does that apply to us? This is an area where I personally have stumbled and fallen. I battled low self-worth for years. So I became a performance-based people pleaser in order to keep the peace. Through singing, speaking, and just plain hard work, I did receive approval, but it was from people rather than from God. This approval didnât help me to feel valuable on the inside. Realize, some people will choose to be displeased with everything you doâand thatâs their choice. But you have a choice too. You donât have to accept a false sense of worthlessness based on what other people think, say, or do. You need to view your worth in light of what God has said and done. You need to see your worth through His eyes. Remember, you were bought from the auction block of sin 20 centuries ago when Jesus paid the ultimate priceâHis life. Jesus willingly died on the crossâpaying the penalty for your sins and mine. He loves you that much! #thatslove #hope #worth #jesuschrist #youareworthit #worthy #heart (at Appling, Georgia)
