“We’ll make it in time, In. Don’t tire yourself out by running,” Thap called out, trailing down the wooden porch steps and onto the stone pathway. Shaking his head fondly when he noticed In impatiently waiting for him, Thap looped their arms together and allowed In to lead the way, the stone pathway fading away for a soft dirt one, the grass beside them as high as their waists. “It’s not like the flower field is too far away.”

Sticking his tongue out in response, In kept up a steady pace with Thap beside him, their soft voices becoming silent in favor of listening to the sound of the birds and crickets. Perking up at the sight of the tree where his height was measured in the past, In quickened his pace and released Thap’s arm, almost prancing ahead in a way that had Thapfah biting back his laughter.

“Do you think we’ll get a clear view of the sky from here?” In questioned, setting his stuff down, the bare patch of field holding all kinds of memories in Inthu’s heart. Stepping beside him, Thap peered around and nodded, the sky nice and open since there weren’t many trees surrounding them. It was also perfect since there was no way for light pollution to make the stars hard to see. “Okay…I’ll set up the tent while you unpack. We brought the lanterns, right?”

“Of course. I made sure to check while you egged me to hurry up,” Thap teased, dodging a swat that In had tried to land on his shoulder. Getting to work, the two worked in silence, some teases and laughs breaking the air around them and before long, the tent was up along with the lanterns. Pulling a blanket from his backpack, Thap folded it into the tent and settled inside, In dragging the other bags inside as well, placing them to the side so they would have room to lay down if they wanted to. “See? The sky is just getting dark now. I told you we’d make it without the rush.”

Sticking his tongue out in response, Inthu settled himself just outside the tent, his eyes taking in the mixing colors of the sunset, the hues of pink and orange creating a soft purple that splattered across the sky like paint. Plopping himself beside his fiance, Thap examined the beautiful sight as well, like he was saving it to his memories of things he did with the love of his life. Pulling his gaze away from the open sky, In glanced at Thap and scooted closer, his head falling on Thapfah’s shoulder as a soft sigh left his lips.

“I hope the stars are just as beautiful as the sunset,” In whispered, like being any louder would break the quiet atmosphere that surrounded them like fragile glass. Giving a soft hum in return, Thap gently intertwined their hands, his thumb rubbing small circles against Inthu’s knuckles. Snuggling closer to his fiance’s warmth, In couldn’t help the happy grin that stretched his lips, his eyes closing so he could soak in everything about this moment. “Even if we don’t see the meteorites, I’m glad we could camp up here again.”

“Yeah…this place is truly beautiful,” Thap agreed, turning his head slightly so he could place his cheek against In’s hair, placing a soft kiss against his forehead. Staying quiet as they watched the sun slowly fall, the once warm orange and pink hues fading to the dark blues and blacks of the night sky, In couldn’t help but perk up when he noticed the twinkles start to appear, the stars shining brightly despite just appearing. “It may be away for the meteors, In. The stars are just starting to come out.”

Letting out a huff when his excitement was noticed, In settled himself back in Thap’s arms, his fiance holding him close as the night grew cooler and a slight gust of wind caused goosebumps to rise on Inthu’s arms. Taking his eyes off the night sky, Thap turned his attention to his bag, his free hand digging through it until he found In’s beloved blanket. Stretching it out, Thap circled it around their shoulders while In shot him an appreciative look, pulling it enough so it would cover his arm while still giving enough of it so Thap could cover up as well.

“If I knew it would get chilly tonight, I would’ve packed warmer clothes,” Thap chuckled, pulling In closer so that they could share the blanket better. Practically curling himself into Thap, In shifted until he was comfortable before pressing a sneaky kiss to Thapfah’s cheek. Letting out a playfully growl, Thap trapped Inthu in his arms and attacked his face with kisses, his fiance’s laugh and pleas for him to stop making something warm rise in his chest. Pulling away enough to press their foreheads together, Thap felt his own smile rising when he noticed the slight blush making In’s cheeks pink. “You’re so cute.”

“Shut up,” In mumbled as an adorable pout slipped onto his lips, the sight making Thapfah’s heart skip a beat. Eyeing the puckered lips, Thap couldn’t help himself and pressed forward, repressing a snort when he felt In’s intake of breath before In practically melted, returning the kiss without hesitation. Pulling away softly to breathe, Thap kept his hand gently cradling Inthu’s flushed face, observing the way In’s eyes fluttered open and met Thap’s, the brown irises sparkling alongside the stars in the sky. “Your eyes are just as beautiful.”

Blinking in shock at the sudden words of affection, Thap felt his ears warm while it was In’s turn to giggle, his hands coming up to play with Thap’s now red ears. Turning his gaze away from In’s to hide his shyness, Thap peered up at the sky again and felt a gasp of awe leave his lips when he noticed a shooting star. Turning his eyes to see what his fiance was looking at, In let out a similar gasp and turned so he could face the sky once more, the sight of meteors falling and shimmering leaving both men breathless at the beauty.

“They’re amazing,” In whispered into the night, still not taking his eyes off the countless shooting stars despite Thap doing so to take Inthu in, the soft glow of moonlight lighting up his face in a way that made him look ethereal in Thap’s eyes. Tearing his gaze away from his fiance’s face, Thap just held In closer, fighting between watching the falling star and just observing his loved one’s beauty. “This night was perfect, P’Thap.”

Letting a soft sound to show he agreed, Thap pressed their heads together gently and just observed the way In pointed out the stars and constellations, listening to his fiance quietly explain the constellation stories until In’s voice finally faded out and his arm fell back to his side. Peering down, Thap couldn’t help but arch his brow in amusement when he noticed Inthu’s closed eyes, his fiance’s breathing even out to the point where he knew that he had fallen asleep.

“You can really sleep anywhere, huh?” Thap teased quietly, keeping his voice soft so he wouldn’t wake Inthu. Maneuvering In so that his head laid more comfortably on Thap’s shoulder, Thap pulled the blanket a little more over In’s body to keep him warm. Settling enough to be comfortable while In slept, Thap carefully brushed his lips over In’s hair, pressing a kiss to it before laying his head against his, his eyes going back up to watch the now slowing down meteor shower. Spotting only a few here and there, Thap closed his eyes and made a wish, his breath creating a soft mist against the cool night air.
