This is the last of a series of posts about 10 notable tropes of 2025, and I'm going to collect them in a master post and maybe another post or two about 2025, IDK. If I miss a 2025 example of any of these, please let me know and I'll happily edit my post to add it!

I guess this isn't really a trope and only two examples come to mind, but they were SO memorable and impactful that I'm calling it. There were a few series that were so (deliciously) tense and angsty and pain-filled and nail-biting that I went into the finale with my stomach in knots, fully expecting 40 minutes of terror and (if I was lucky) 5 of happiness at the end. Several series delivered just that (The Bangkok Boy was the prime example) but two especially gripping and dread-filled series instead decided to gift us with the opposite: a surprisingly quick climax followed by a long and blissful ending so fluffy it felt like a special episode. And I couldn't have been more grateful and happy for that bait and switch! These two really tied in my mind--their futures were both SO happy!--but I'll flip a coin and name one the winner.

Like with my previous post, this only happened twice in 2025 (that I can think of) so it barely qualifies as a top trope, but the way this potentially tired cliche was rendered in both series was fabulous! I had to give the top rank to the one that was an actual angry slap followed by channeling that anger into some passionate risky public sex. Presenting the slap kisses of 2025...

the timeline isnt timelining for me. if thada only sent the tape recorder after previous lifetime armin's shitty acting, then how does armin already have the tape recorder in this lifetime?

okay i went to review the relevant scenes and the one that confuses me is that extra end credits scene after ep 1 that says "the incident that happened before thada met armin". so was it shitty acting scene with ren did happen > thada sends the tape recorder > past!armin passes out in a different scene and older!armin is reset back > thada meets armin for the first time > armin refilms the scene with ren > thada sees it before meeting armin in the park(?)

cause it kinda seems implied that armin reset back into the shitty acting scene with ren, ran away and went ballistic because he thought he had died. there isnt any feasible gap for thada to have gotten weynai to pass armin the tape recorder and for past!armin to already have used it if he passed out in that exact scene, and the caption in that extra credits scene is confusing the hell out of me because "before thada met armin" when???? for the first time? at the park? at the wrap party? ok thanks weynai for clarifying that, it's before the wrap party, after they had met for the first time and at the park

this is seriously not even that important but im so confused trying to figure out the timeline of things

okay. okay. i couldnt let it go so i rewatched everything in ep 1 again to focus on the damned tape recorder and. its never implied in ep 1, at least, that the tape recorder was sent because of past!armin's acting in the series with ren but i was pretty sure i saw another scene probs in ep 3 or 4 that implies exactly that?????? or did my brain just make assumptions djsjdndjdiejsnns
