The last official ooc development task was about a month ago, though there were a few ic ones in between then and now it’s still time for another one of these. As promised, we offer tasks that are meant to help develop and share details about our muses in a way that helps us all continue to grow and move forward. This task is meant to help introduce our characters in a quick way that will make it easier to see more of the core personalities on the dash to inspire plotting and dash interactions. These challenge tasks are OPTIONAL and as an ooc task this one is posted PRIVATELY so you can be honest, knowing it won’t reveal anything ic. Based on dash activity, the characters on the masterlist, the general public understanding of some of their nuances, and the desire to help people find more places to plot I have decided that this time around we’re going to talk about the source(s) of our muse inspo.

I’m going to do this one in two parts this time, the ic and the ooc. The ic has been handled by the tutor and the ooc will be explained right here. So you can choose to reveal things ic and keep other things privately ooc.

It’s easy to assume that the smut is what draws people to TGA and what has kept me in the admin seat for over ten years, but I have to say that isn’t the truth. The reason that I believe TGA has always been so active and enjoyable is the fact that it has been home to some of the most original, fully developed characters that I’ve ever seen and the tense plot allows for people to explore connections and development extensively. We’ve seen characters come in that have developed into completely different people by the time they leave The Academy. We’ve had some of the most entertaining and eventful ships and family bonds.

So how do you get that yourself? The first step to being able to plot with other people in order to create standout stuff to write is getting your character out there and letting everyone know who they are. For many of us here, at least one of our characters is either a canon from another fandom, based on a canon from another fandom, loosely inspired by a canon from another fandom, or there is at least something pre-existing that we run to for muse inspo. If you thought of any of your characters just now, and they aren’t an exact canon from another fandom, you can share that inspo ic with the tutor’s matching ic development challenge, the personality quiz. Obviously, it’ll look a little weird to write up an ic post that says something like, “CHARACTER NAME is kind of like SAME CHARACTER NAME!” so we have this ooc half to give you the same sharing opportunities. Do you have something you want to share that the questions I’ve left don’t give you an opportunity to talk about? Talk about it anyway, feel free to add in anything about your muse inspo sources that you want in this. Format this however you want, with text, pics, readmores, questions, bullet points, etc.

If your character is a canon character from any fandom, who are they and what fandom are they from? Link to the character’s wikipedia or canon biography page to give more information. This is a good place to write about how your canon character varies from the canon or most common fanon material as well. 

If your character is not a canon character but is inspired by one, who are they inspired by, how much, and in what ways? Feel free to list habits that you’ve taken, hobbies, and even inspo you’ve taken from the family your character came from if they are an oc in a canon family. (ex: Beau Smythe is an oc in the canon Smythe family and I have taken their canon political background, elitism, and snark among other things)

What do you go to when you need muse inspo to get in character? List songs, a music genre, tv shows, movies, books, hobbies, etc. Anything that you can do or turn on that helps you get in the mood and on the dash. Don’t have an answer to this? Maybe you should find one! It really helps to inspire you to dive in deep and develop muses.

What personality traits, habits, and details apply to your character have? You can list positive, negative, and neutral traits here. You can also list hobbies and habits. This is also a good spot for character details, like sexuality, romantic preference, etc. Any specific details, ADD, dyslexia, health conditions, mental and physical. How do these things affect how your character makes decisions?

Arranged Marriage: Muse A and Muse B are forced into an arranged marriage by their parents in order to end the war between their kingdoms. Neither of them like the idea, as they have been raised from birth to hate each other. Neither of them can fully comprehend why, all of a sudden, the two kingdoms want peace, when they have done nothing but attempt to destroy each other since as long as anyone can remember. They are scheduled to formally meet each other at the infamous Dalton Academy, but it does not seem as if it will go over well.

Royal/Servant Forbidden Love: Muse A is a young adult, a child of royalty. They are a well established individual. Extremely classy, well spoken and mannered, and charming. Their parents want only the best of the best for their child, and have picked out other royals from different kingdoms that would be a perfect match. However, muse A has their eye set somewhere else. Muse B is one of the many servants at the palace that has been assigned to serve the young royal, meant to be nothing but a slave. Muse A knows that this goes against everything that their parents want, but, can not help them self. Muse A begins talking with muse B on a regular basis, and their relationship begins to grow. The only thing that stands in their way is the time growing shorter and shorter, until the royals find out and a decision must be made.

Traveler and the Royal: Muse A, a young traveler of 18-21, was entering a new kingdom on their adventures before having to go to BDSM academy. But they needed a rest. Just as they are about to rent a room for the night, rain begins to fall heavily. As if that wasn't bad enough, every place that can be found in the small kingdom seems to be full. The traveler decides to take a risk, and try the giant palace in the distance. Knocking on the door, muse A is met with servants that rush the traveler inside, offering tea and refreshments. A few moments pass, and muse B enters the foyer, a smile on their face. They open the palace to the traveler, allowing them to take refuge out of the harsh storm. Flash forward and now they’re meeting again at The Academy.

Slavery Enemies: The war between liberals and traditional laws was more tense than ever when the rebellion began. At one point, if one side saw someone from the other side, they would capture them on sight, and drag them to be kept in a cell, and vice versa. Muse A is of traditional royalty who had just caught their first rebel, muse B, and was responsible for watching over them in their cell. Being an inexperienced Monster Dom/me, muse A slowly begins feeling sorry for the slave, and in turn, also gains feelings. Flash forward and now they’re both at The Academy.

Worth More Than A Crown: Muse A is the heir apparent, and is in training to become ruler after their father. They’ve never gone against their father, always following the rules. Muse B is not royal, new to the academy and it’s rules. They’d only started here, and had been instantly charmed by the prince/ss and his/er/their ways. But what they didn't expect was the prince to be smitten with them too, taken by their beautiful eyes and personality. They both know that they couldn’t be together, separated by their vastly different social statuses. Royals don’t always claim or marry other royals, but this particular family is very firm on it and it has been stated that anything else will spell immediate disowning. But Muse A choses Muse B over their kingdom, something they thought they’d never do.  

Enemies to Lovers: Slow burn. Someone from a small, neighboring nation to the central kingdom swears revenge on the royals after a village raid robs them of their own family. The only way to extract revenge is to become an insider of the palace to take it down from the inside. This revenge is more personal, and they vow to help eliminate the heir and cause the king the same heartache they were forced to feel. They form a pact with a group of rebels with the rebellion who also lost loved ones and promises them justice. By joining this group, he agrees to send sensitive information on the royals and about the weak spots of the royal line when trusted. Once coming to The Academy to attend the same BDSM Academy as the royal heir, they quickly buddy up with them after testing their "loyalty" to the king. Surprisingly, they’re granted the opportunity to serve and submit. Impulsively, the person agrees to it like a job, even if it means faking a friendship with the prince for intel. The problem? There are eventually going to be feelings developing here. The servant, now guilt-ridden and attached to the prince, can only bide time for so long. Their old group will be getting restless for revenge, and while the person is still pained over the loss of their family, they can no longer face the idea of causing this prince harm, even the idea of murdering the king becomes a struggle. The prince, while emotionally distant from their own family, finds a close friendship in his servant eventually. Once a jaded person that dreamed of cold-blooded revenge is now the same kind, gentle person he once was before the loss of his family. Now, he faces two cutting issues: a budding romance over the prince, and the lingering guilt that they know will soon destroy their bond.

Beau Smythe was ran out of his own home while the rebellion was at is peak, his main family estate burned to the ground. He narrowly escaped, but would have needed help very shortly afterwards and would not have gotten far on his own. Plot opportunities here include someone that found him at his most vulnerable and cared for him, people that didn’t know who he was while he was hiding from the law after that, and even people involved in lighting the fire at his estate or slaves that his family owned; whether they knew about what was happening or not. One really good connection here would be someone that saw him after the fire but didn’t know who he was, probably because it was harder to recognize him and he was hiding his identity, and kept running their mouth about how the Smythes deserved to burn. Cue their entry into The Academy, where they find Beau again and find out he’s a Smythe. 

Muse A reluctantly braves the cold weather to head outside on a snowy day; Muse B is salting the sidewalk as Muse A walks by and feels pretty bad when Muse A slips on a patch of black ice they missed.  

Muse A is an aspiring sports person who likes to practice a lot. Muse B is an avid sports person of another type and likes to practice at the same place. Neither muse likes to share.

Muse A comes from a warmer climate and has never seen snow before, so imagine their delight when they come outside at The Academy to their first snow fall. Muse B is completely over the freezing temps, but can’t help noticing how in awe Muse A is when it begins to snow. They strike up a conversation about it.. Bonus points if Muse A doesn’t have anything to wear to keep warm and has to borrow a jacket from Muse B.

Muse A spends hours each day building elaborate snow/ice sculptures in the courtyard. Each night, a disenchanted Muse B destroys them on their walk back to their room. One night, Muse A camps out to catch Muse B and confront them.  

After being wrongly imprisoned since they were taken to court with the rebellion, Muse A finally finishes their trials and is sent to The Academy. Adjusting to life is difficult with a conviction on their record, especially since no one knows the truth– which is that Muse A was innocent and had to take the fall for someone who was threatening their family. As a term of their parole, Muse A must stay at McKinley and maintain civility for 6 months without committing any criminal offenses and do community service or they risk an immediate return to prison. Muse A just wants life to return to something resembling normal, so they take the first community service opportunity that will have them. (Working at the library, the infirmary, as a TA, anything a school campus might need; you can ask the Headmistress for more ideas) Muse B is someone who frequents Muse A’s place of community service. Although Muse A tries to keep to themselves in order to avoid any potential trouble, Muse B manages to crack Muse A’s hardened exterior. Over time, Muse B becomes someone whom Muse A looks forward to seeing and spending time with. As a tentative relationship grows, Muse A starts to feel like they can put their unjust past behind them. That is– until Muse B invites Muse A to meet their sibling, Muse C, who Muse A recognizes as the person they went to prison because of. Now Muse A must decide whether their budding relationship with Muse B is more important to them than seeking revenge on Muse C and jeopardizing their freedom. Alternates to this plot include skipping the sibling thing and instead, having Muse B find out about Muse A’s criminal record and exploring that direction.

I’m going to drop a few different things here and this may end up being the new pinned tweet by the end of it, so take that level of importance in mind from the very beginning of reading through this, please. 

⇲ ACTIVITY RULE UPDATES

I want to jump ahead of this before it becomes a problem, and with new people just yesterday I think now is as good as any time to officially update the activity rules to ensure that this continues to be an inclusive environment. 

All open starters must be responded to, with the exception of open para starters just because they can get a little long. HOWEVER, I would still like to see open para starters being written and replied to, so I’m going to suggest that everyone reply to at least one open para starter a week (if there are any new ones to reply to) and write one of their own once a month. These can be very short! We’re not picky here, I’m just trying to encourage more in person interactions to move plots forward. If I have to write a more specific rule for open para starters because they’re being ignored, I will, because nobody will write open paras if they don’t think they’ll be replied to.  

The first open starter from every new player must be replied to, which should already be happening if we’re following the first rule but I’m adding it here because it is an especially important thing to do. So it is going to count as its own rule. 

Continued interaction with multiple characters is required, in specific you must be speaking to at least five people that are not part of your character’s current connections at all times. This sounds more difficult than it is, I promise. We have almost 40 characters here at this point, and you can count staff characters (Headmistress, tutor, head nurse/guidance counselor, gossip blogger, or club director). An example of this with my Beau Smythe as the person in question would be that he has connections to his siblings, the Sterlings, the Claringtons, the Duvals, the Cohen-Changs, the Abrams, and every other political family. So from now on, I need to be reaching out to at least five characters outside of his political bubble.

as an overview, remember that everyone is marked at 18 so they spend their childhood as children. From 18 - 21 they’re still considered under their parent’s guardianship. At 21 everyone is required to go to a BDSM Academy; TGA is not the only one but it is considered the best one that yields the highest results, and is also the most strict. No outside contact is allowed while at TGA, so nobody has ever been able to contact anyone that isn’t at TGA and nobody can leave campus, that’s part of the strict part. 25 is the youngest anyone is allowed to graduate, it is the youngest you can complete the BDSM programs. At that point, any Dominant that had finished the program could graduate, with or without a claimed submissive(s). A requirement for submissives to graduate was a claim though, no single submissives exist in the outside world older than 21. Submissives that don’t get claimed while at academy would go to the slave markets and be sold. Any submissive unclaimed after graduation would be sent back to academy if they were young enough or sent right to the slave auctions if they were too old. The rebellion started about two years ago and ended about one year ago, and this is the first new class with the new equality laws and with Switches. Before the rebellion, it was Dominants at Dalton and submissives at McKinley with lesser supplies and living arrangements, but now everyone is dormed at Dalton and the people that might hurt other people are being watched at McKinley (closer to the staff) just to make sure they don’t sneak into people’s suites at night and bust heads or do anything else like that. 

A note on activity: With it being the winter holiday season, I’ve been relaxed on activity rules and some of us are on some sense of hiatus, so I won’t be posting any unfollow links until after the new year. However, if you want to participate in the mock claim event, then I highly suggest you either post something ic or in the ooc blog to let people know you will be here and want to participate or come DM me so that I can make sure to include you because I imagine people will be basing the names they put in for the mock claim event on their most recent interactions ic and whether the person seems active still ooc. I will be going out of my way to make sure that people that are active get paired up, but if you’re not active and nobody sent in your character’s name, then you might not get paired up. If the list comes out and your name is not on it and you want to participate, all you have to do is DM me and I’ll get you added in.
