Soft AU- Date Pt 3

Wheeljack x Reader

• “Oh, yeah,” he says with a grimace. Because incorporating sensory nets into the avatar so that he could feel had seemed like a good idea at the time and you frown slightly, brow furrowing. ‘Why do you look like if you and the Mythbusters dudes had a baby?’ Shrugging slightly, he relaxes now that he’s certain you’re not about to knee him again. “I needed to model the avatar on a human. For realism,” he answers and your lips thin as you study him. Had picked two of the most exemplary humans he could think of. Though, it doesn’t hurt that he’s been fascinated with their show. And that everyone loved them for blowing things up even though it’s a whole thing when he does it accidentally.

Don’t ask how Wheeljack discovers these, but it’s out of anyone’s control once he does. By the end of shift he has 12 different prototypes, and half the crew are equipped.

Ratchet is horrified. Ironhide is debating the utility as armor. Prowl is thrilled at the potential for increased productivity.

Optimus is trying to stay professional, but really wants one.

Ok, hear me out: Soundwave and Wheeljack calling periodic truces so the Cassettes and Dino-bots can have playdates. The twins and seekers find out, and they get jealous. But are bribed not to tell the others with promise that they can join (over the course of several meetings they've converted most of an abandoned industrial area/superfund site into a fantastic Cybertronian-scale playground).

The process repeats, with more and more bots getting in on the secret until it's only Optimus & Mega that don't know.

It takes a while but they eventually get suspicious about where everyone is constantly disappearing to. So they demand all-hands meetings to get some answers. Everyone's panicked about playtime being cancelled, but also don't want to lie (the Autobots because of Optimus' disappointed dad voice, the Decepticons because Megatron has a really big gun).

But actually the two of them are like "WTF? And this has been going on how long without violence?"

(Ironhide points out that they built a boxing ring and paintball range and… so Optimus revises "Without Genuine Violence?" Ironhide is content with that description. Bumblebee points out the 'epic tower of epicness' they built, and Cliffjumper the solar-powered energon fountain, and Jazz the scrap metal shipment one of the older bots somehow arranged (It was actually Sparkplug) to have on-tap snacks and toys, and Prowl just made contact with a wildlife sanctuary to set up a 'petting zoo' for next week… Eventually Optimus just walks away.)

(But really, Optimus was just offended they didn’t Invite Roller. Then he finds out Roller WAS going to the playground, Wheeljack just built a scrambler that played ‘bored hold music’ into Optimus’ connection to the little droid, so the leader wouldn’t find out and stop the fun. Optimus is impressed by the ingenuity and the friends Roller has made).

So Optimus and Mega are like "Well, I guess we'll have to actually talk, ugh, like adults, UGH" and have a one-on-one.
