I've recently...
...come to imagine that, more or less regardless of the continuity, Cybertronian warfare must be an absolute pain. You can never know who's going to pull what from where.
Like, take Helex from IDW. You'd think, with a smelter built into his body, he'd melt people down. No, he eats their brains. Oh, Broadside's coming up the coast to give us support! Well, we can expect naval battery- what do you mean, he turns into an aircraft carrier?*
The closest you get to anything predictable are regular ground-bots who have to use swords or blasters, and even then you'll never know if it turns out that, say, an innocuous-looking medic is actually part of Defensor, or if they're a triple-changer and are about to turn into a helicopter and strafe you.
It's unfair, it's exhausting, it's stressful, and just about everyone was fed up of a war where Lord Doomitron is someone only especially useful when being used as a weapon by somebody else but a name as innocuous as Whirl means your death is going to be as unpleasant as it will be enthusiastically creative.
*I assume a Cybertronian aircraft carrier is basically just a battle bus/aid station for jet-bots.

Old art of Hound and Broadside! I was asked to have them shaking hands, so heres the lil story to it I made up. According to TFWiki, Broadside is an acrophobic, sea sick aircraft carrier and jet. So he's just a Hot Mess, but probably in secret under a Tough Guy attitude since he's a Wrecker. But the kind, nature-loving Hound sees through it and stops the mech one day to ask him whats up and to make a deal: he'll help the triple changer get over his anxieties, in exchange for free travel. I think it would work well for the jeep, getting cool views of the sky and sea while talking about how to be Chill and relax. Beachcomber and Seaspray probably tag along and go scuba diving and cave exploring, and meets up with the Aerialbots in the air and the fliers tease Broadside into doing maneuvers and stuff. Apparently there's not really a consensus if he's just a tiny aircraft carrier or a giant jet,, maybe he changes his size according to the alt mode he needs? For the sake of the art piece, I made them to like, action figures scale LOL.
