First one are just femmes and the second are from the Live action movies.

So I actually got some motivation to draw today (which may be because I started back on my medication today), and so I took a stab at some new characters that have been floating around my mind somewhat recently

These were just “drafts” for me to get some ideas of maybe what I wanted, Beta drawing pretty much only from her g1 design, and Codexa her IDW2 design, with the idea that I’ll expand on them at a later date

But if I’m being honest, while I like Beta’s design more now, I don’t like how Codexa turned out at all, she needs a design overhaul. I think the issue with Codexa was that I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, Codexa has a much more complex design than Beta. Also I gave Beta the green and yellow when it seems like that’s more so Codexa’s color scheme, and I was struggling to incorporate that while drawing her

But yeah, hopefully I’ll have better designs at a later date, this is just what I have so far

Also these designs are not really indicative of their actual ages. Beta is an old lady while Codexa is middle aged. But I’m not very good at indicating age in my designs, so oh well

I also need to work on my anatomy more, but we’ll deal with that another time

Alright, so what I really want to mention is their lore. They don’t have much, but I just wanted to introduce you more to them and share ideas

Okay, so as mentioned, Beta is an old friend of Alpha Trion, ever since they were young (her original designation might have been B-2? But I haven’t decided if she had one). They fought together against Liege Maximo and his forces, and they’ve maintained a strong friendship throughout the years

I don’t really know what her job or personality is, other than she’s probably more experienced with weapons than Alpha Trion, who was always more of a scientist, and she as a voice that sounds like she smokes a lot

And then there’s Codexa, who as also stated, runs the Iacon Archives as Head Archivist. I don’t actually know what her job is in IDW2, but I saw someone give her that role elsewhere, and given Alpha Trion doesn’t have much connection to the Archives here

Similarly, I don’t have much on her character, other than she’s a lot bigger and bulkier than Beta and is a lot more openly sweet than Beta. Beta’s nice once you get to know her, but she’s got an ornery exterior. Codexa’s much easier to work with if you’re a stranger

And as stated, they’re mother and daughter, with Beta being Codexa’s creator. She most likely has another creator, but I haven’t decided exactly who yet

See, one idea that’s been floating around my head is that Codexa is also Alpha Trion’s daughter, and that there’s instead a romantic relationship between him and Beta. This would also make Codexa Elita-1 and Optimus Prime’s much older sister (like in human years, she’s probably in her 40s or even early 50s, meanwhile Elita and Optimus are somewhere in their 20s). Though it’d be treated more like an adoption scenario rather than them being her half-siblings, there’s no scandal or anything. Other than the age difference being a little weird for them

This would allow for Codexa and Optimus to still have a familial connection despite Optimus a different origin, and I mean, I don’t think it’d detract from anything if I did this. But it also probably wouldn’t contribute too much either, other than the pair having an older sister. But they’d still know Codexa regardless, as Beta and Alpha Trion have that close connection, and Optimus enjoys reading things from the Archives anyways

I don’t know, like I said it’s not a big thing, but I’m just unsure which way I should go with Codexa and Alpha Trion, whether he’s her father or just like an uncle figure

And yeah, neither character as of currently is supposed to have a huge role in the story, it’s just more characters within the world. I could give them more to do, but we’ll see what happens

Beta! A non-transforming robot who helped A-3/Alpha Trion in the rebellion against the Quintessons! She has a serious and no-nonsense personality.

G1 has her only significant role, though she is just briefly seen in a Generations Selects Special comic and mentioned in the toy bio for the Beast Machines Rav toy. In Animated, there is a Beta is mentioned to be a prisoner inside Trypticon Base, but this character seems to be, at most, a reference to the Shattered Glass version of her.
