One of Cap’s San Antonio rescue volunteers is in town visiting family and we hooked up so she could see the Captain and meet Bucky. She brought them both treats and had some photos both with all of us and with just her and Cap.
It was lovely. She was nearly moved to tears seeing how well he’s doing. His fur is growing in and his rough calluses on his elbows are soft (even if they still look like rough stuff). We’re with him every day so the changes don’t have the same impact. It’s nice for me to know we’re doing it right.
I can’t tell you how it feels to know we’re reaffirming for her that what she does counts in the long run and to bolster her hope for the long-timers in the rescue and shelter system back in San Antonio.
My heart is full.
