Can I confess something? I have no idea how Marsh looks. Is there an ilustration or something that shows how they look? I tried google and the wiki but that showed anything from a slighty fishy human to fish with legs and arms.
i don't have Marsh's illustration specifically, only the description i wrote in the game. well, yes, google 'Innsmouth', read the game, and use your imagination. there are different stages of transformation that Deep One hybrids go through: they are born as regular human-looking children, then change more and more later in their lives. Marsh is rather old and has almost completely gone through the transformation, but being stuck in New Ackerbury hinders the completion of it. here, i found some images for inspo (including an Innsmouth refugee from The Sinking City, the game that started my Lovecraft journey and served as my biggest inspiration for this if)

I know there are a lot of horndogs here, but one of the things I really enjoy is the subtle horror woven throughout the story. There are these moments that remind you just how unsettling the setting really is—through the way people behave, the atmosphere, and the darker themes the story explores. At the end of the day, dating a cosmic horror is obviously a terrible idea, and of course that comes with consequences. The story doesn't shy away from things like racism, murder, and now even stalking, which helps maintain that underlying sense of dread even amidst all the romance and comedy. (Romance/Comedy/Horror isn’t so different )

i agree! romance, comedy, and horror aren't so far away from each other. people have always been mixing them. the book on which this story is ultimately based is a collection of love stories taking place in the midst of something weird/scary

I finally did it! I played without romancing the messenger for once! The scene where he pretends to be the other characters helped maybe shine a light in what their conflict in relation to the mc could be and while there is not enough difference between romanced N and non Romanced, it's still nice to see the subtleties. A silly question, are the ghouls mismatched eyes a ghoul thing or they had it before?

not a silly question. yes, the ghoul had them from birth. it's a reference to lovecraft's Martense family (which is our ghoul's surname). mind, while i'm taking big inspiration--a rich dutch family from New Amsterdam that built a reclusive mansion in Montana woods--i'm still making changes and doing my own thing
You have your pleasure, too. It's hardly as intense as what the Messenger can give you, but there is something so much more intimate, more sensitive here now. Perhaps this is just your feeling your own spores in Paul's brain: they resonate, and you can feel the exact emotions. You can never know what the Messenger thinks.

But I do like that those scenes are different because they should be different mc isn’t human so it wouldn’t be normal.
My theory about how I think it would go down with the others is:
Marsh is probably connected to water somehow, or maybe done in their church. Now that Marsh knows MC’s true name, they’ll likely use it to trigger some sort of trap. If they’re somehow capable of summoning Nyar, then they’re almost certainly going to act on that knowledge. (In this case, saying your partner’s true name is very bad idea 🥺.)
Hendrick seems like the easiest to guess. it would probably involve a bit of cannibalism and some form of mind control or break. Maybe it's done in a way that boosts morale or improves their self-esteem. I'm also curious whether this would play out with a human MC or their real self since they seem to be scared of mc in the dream lands.

"some form of mind control or break" whyyyy? that's like the only hard no the ghoul sets. you can stab him, rot him, infect him, and he's just like 'good fun!' as long as you stay away from his head. previously (at the ETAS meeting), if you force yourself into his head, he will straight up end the romance
"improves their self-esteem" improves? if his self-esteem gets any bigger, he won't be able to fit through doors
"with a human MC or their real self" this one i'm still thinking about. on one hand, it would be nice to have 2 in the Dreamlands and 2 in the real world. but on the other hand, i don't really want to write another scene in the Dreamlands. so idk…
