Okay, okay, okay, I’m back! These two have left me no choice!

So, if you haven’t heard, Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma have been beefing! Well, more intensely lately. We all know they’ve been in competition with each other for over about a decade now, but these days it’s getting “nasty.”

I bet you’re wondering why I put nasty inside quotation marks. Well, let me tell you why.....THIS RAP BATTLE BEEF IS TRASH!!!! 

If you haven’t heard, Remy Ma started off this “battle” if you will with a 7-minute diss record called “ShETHER.” Now, I’m pretty sure you all remember Nas’ “Ether” to Jay-Z right? Well, that’s the effect she was going for (hence the title). Good news for her, the record seemed to be very well liked. I personally think it was hyped up, but who am I? 

While we were hearing crickets from Nicki, Remy was in the studio recording some new “punchlines.” She decided to record it over Drake’s “Back to Back” instrumental, which I feel was a good comeback as far as the track she chose seeing that Drake and Nicki are close friends. Also because Drake used “Back to Back” to diss Meek Mill. So, I’m thinking her thought was to make them both -- Nick and Meek -- take an L on the same beat. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out. Her punchlines weren’t there. If you’re going to rap on a track somebody used to diss someone, aaaaand diss one of their friends, aaaaand use the same flow as the original artist, aaaand try to hand out the disses like the original artist, your punchlines have to be fire (Katt Williams voice)! I’m just saying, “Ooooh, you gotta be quicker than that!”

So, Nicki finally responded back today which made me start my blog back up. She’s like that student who asks the teacher for more time on her project and does her presentation on Monday when everyone presented theirs on Friday. Not only was she late, but there were a few factors that really disappointed me:

1. She made it into an actual song instead of a freestyle with punchlines. I understand it from a business standpoint for record sales, but this ain’t that!

2. She brought Drake and Wayne in on the track! WACK! That’s like watching 2 girls catfight and pull each other’s hair and her 2 play brothers jump in and start throwing the girl their play sister is fighting.

3. SHE. ONLY. HAD. ONE. PUNCH. LINE.

For those deal-breaking factors I just named, I’m #TeamRemy! I will post the link to all Remy’s first 2 diss records, Nicki’s record, and Nas’ “Ether” (just for a throwback) and I want you to tell me who you vote for. Comment, #TeamRemy or #TeamNicki! I’m out!
