Two magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes hit Venezuela on 24 July just after 6 pm. The death toll has been raised to 2.295 deaths and there are at least 11.267 injured. There are still people trapped under the rubble and the rescue teams sent by other countries are still getting people out in La Guaira. How can you help?

Major Earthquake Hits Venezuela Today - June 24, 2026A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1, later upgraded to 7.5 by USGS (part of a doublet event), struck northern Venezuela around 6:05 PM local time (22:05 UTC). The epicenter was located near the coast west of Caracas, close to areas like Morón, Yumare, and San Felipe in Yaracuy state, at a shallow depth of about 10-13 km.The quake was strongly felt in Caracas, with reports of building collapses in neighborhoods like Los Palos Grandes and San Bernardino, damage at Caracas airport, and widespread panic. Hello there, I hope you're all okay. My name is Natalia and I'm from Venezuela, I'm currently living in the capital (Caracas) right now. I'm deeply ashamed that I had to ask for this but due to the earthquake or June 24th we couldn't concentrate on something else because of the aftershocks and the constant physical and mental stress, since the first day we were trying to spread the word and trying to communicate with our loved ones, but we haven't been able to work either and my uncle (which I'm reliant on because of my mental health) who is the one making a lot of effort has been feeling really tired to the point that I'm the only one awake till dawn, while he and my other uncle are resting, I'm constantly checking and sharing the updates regarding the situation but now I can't because my FB account (where I get in touch with my friends ) got restricted for a week and I can barely react or comment. I wish I could contribute in one way or another, although most local shops are closed and some neighbors left the building after the doublet earthquakes with their family members and pets to seek shelter so now there aren't that many people in my residency.

I'm currently living in my own apartment whose columns and beam facing towards the elevator are cracked after the earthquake and I don't have another place to live for now, but I have most of my stuff packed. I live on the 19th floor out of 23 floors. The room of my other uncle was also affected, a shelf broke and fell to the ground breaking some glass (the cylindric object lying on the column) but we were able to fix it so it's fine. However the only thing made in my area was a quick inspection of the columns down the building and apparently they're also fine but there are many apartments with the same issue as mine, even in some floors you can find cracks. Fortunately I'm not hurt, perhaps not physically, but mentally I've been very distressed by everything.

Those who know me are aware of how complicated the situation has been in the last weeks if not the last months since January. I had to sell and old fridge for food, fix my broken phone screen, then I had my period when I couldn't afford pads, spent that week with discomfort and migraine and still wasn't enough, and just when I was recovering, I had food poisoning that led to nausea and headache as well as back pain due to bad posture, and I was depending on my uncle to go to the bathroom and basically he took care of me while he was asking for help, I only had an electrolyte and some saltine crackers because I couldn't eat anything else and finally next day when I woke up feeling much better I showered myself the earthquake happens and we had to run as quickly as possible. I wish I was joking but I was struggling so bad that we actually thought everything was sort of stabilizing at least, suddenly we are facing the harsh reality after this earthquake brought us in our worst moment. We could barely eat and we are also short of hygiene products apart from food. We can't just do this on our own and this is the reason why I'm asking for help. Also I'm hoping that I can help the victims and missing people while I'm absent, as I mentioned before, I can't share anything for now and the next hours are critic for those trapped in the ruins. On June 24th, Venezuela was struck by two consecutive earthquakes measuring around 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, causing catastrophic damage across several states.

So many people went missing or lost their lives during this event. Honestly, every time I see photos of the hardest-hit states, i can't help but feel sad, even guilty, for having been lucky enough not to lose everything i own.

I created this drawing because SDVN is my comfort ship; i sketched it just days after the event, when i was still afraid of another quake and could barely sleep. I don't want people to think i'm posting this just to capitalize on the situation, that thought is actually what made me put off posting it until now, on the contrary, i hope awareness of the situation spreads further, and if you can, please support those affected by the earthquakes.

Don't let yourself be swayed by stupid, ungrateful people, who exist in everywhere, or by those who speak poorly about donations. Venezuelans aren't a horrible, selfish or arrogant people, despite what is said in the comments sections of malicious videos. Please don't let that minority tarnish your perspective or your solidarity with those who truly need help...
