Zilina, the capital of this region and base for trips out to the two major national parks, is now home to several really good restaurants. But out in the wilds hereabouts, there are some interesting places to eat too.
This is where you come to hike and relish the quintessential loveliness of Slovakia: a national park famed for its sheer woodsy gorges and the thrilling ascents therein, often over rickety ladders hammered into cliffs sprayed by waterfalls.
