I'm here for Tennin for all the wrong reasons...
☞ Doctor of the former child patient whom he couldn't protect from his superior's desire for greed. (Adults traumatizing the twins for their own aspirations repeats as motive.)
☞ Kenzo projecting the "good twin" persona on Nina, like Johan does, to the detriment of Nina is delayed in her own confrontation with her shadow.
☞ On ship territory that means: Kenzo seeking out the girl onto whom he projects all the good that he denies her brother to have.
☞ Dr. Tenma's scandalously younger girl friend. (17 year age gap, yay!)
☞ Kenzo has the tendency to swoop in for a quick save, yet has trouble committing to a long time care and connection. (See him avoiding to look after Dieter upon his return in Munich.) And yet Nina saves him ever so often from him making reckless decisions. (Frankfurt, Munich) When he does save her from killing herself at Čapek's hideout, this is the first time he holds out for someone in the long run, actually committing to take care of her for longer.
☞ Just the parallel of both, independent of the other, seeking out criminal folk, and learning valuable lessons about violence and accountability as committing murder.
☞ The parallel of Kenzo being brilliant at his job yet holding personal relationships, even Dr. Becker, and Eva (during their engagement) at arm's length - then see Nina being a brilliant student, yet keeping herself busy with side jobs and activities to not sit too long with herself, and not entertaining the idea to ever seriously go out with anyone. Both hide behind duties and professionalism intentionally to keep people at a distance. Only that is to change during the hunt for Johan.
☞ Another parallel: Kenzo first deciding he must definitely kill Johan, Nina first deciding she wants to become a persecutor, only for both to undergo a diametric change of heart is just peak development.
☞ I mean in general there is a lot emotional incest going on between the twins. And now consider Johan burdened Kenzo with the role of "father figure". (He's a pretty dead beat dad though...)
☞ Whereas Kenzo's former fiancée Eva mirrors, if not lays out Johan's state of mind closely, Nina's hard fought for hope and bootstraps mentality is exactly the opposite. Blondes play a rather decisive role in Kenzo's life, hm...
