The Temple of Artemis or Diana near Ephesus, Turkey, was rebuilt several times in antiquity until its final destruction by the Goths in 263 AD. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World with 127 Ionic columns each 18 meters in height.

The temple, dedicated to the goddess Artemis, was famous for its immense size, gleaming marble columns, and extraordinary artwork. Although the destruction was devastating, the people of Ephesus rebuilt the sanctuary on an even grander scale. The rebuilt temple stood for centuries before it was ultimately destroyed during the late Roman period.
