They have very strong opinions on all the people she knows as if they know them personally. They are pulling out popcorn intensely watching her do an exam. They cheer when she gets a new job opportunity. They threw a party once she finally went to therapy. They are the ones yelling at the screen for Penny to kill her ex and it’s only slightly hyperbolic. The shipping is insane. They are so so proud of her and she doesn’t even know. And now there is a 65 year old librarian that has become the soap opera blorbo to 5 dead teens.

Ocean and Noel would be rivals in French immersion class specifically because they both take it for very different reasons. Noel takes it for the love of the French language and also because his special interest is a competition and he is needs to be the most devoted. Ocean needs to know French if she’s ever gonna be prime minister because if you don’t win over Quebec in the election you’re basically screwed. And ofc the top student would also know another language! What is she, stupid? They both think that they deserve to be the top student and are violently competitive on who does better in this class specifically. They are neck and neck grades wise somehow and each test shifts the balance of their dynamic for the next week. Penny is also in French immersion simply for the love of the game but literally no one noticed until she brings it up one time in a choir meeting. The French teacher also sucks ass at teaching and pronounce half the words in an accent no other French speaker has ever seen before but they’re like the only one in town willing to teach it so it’s all they get.

A key difference between Ocean and Penny it that while both stand out for being the only highschooler on the planet who refuse to say swears as bad as the word ass, Ocean wouldn’t cross that line unless everyone is literally about to be killed by a Saw trap, meanwhile Penny is one bad day away from calling someone a type of shitface ass sucker you’d find from the bottom of the sea if someone pisses her off too much
