For several years now, Ducati has set the benchmark in both Moto GP and World SBK, consistently producing the strongest all round bikes. Thanks to the concessions system, many manufacturers have managed to close the gap, but none have yet surpassed Ducati in the Moto GP.

While BMW has beaten Ducati twice in World SBK, in Moto GP only Aprilia has been able to challenge them competitively during the 2025 season. Still, Aprilia says Ducati is not the reference they are concentrating on when it comes to performance.

As Aprilia Head Engineer Fabiano Sterlacchini explained.

"There's only one way to improve performance. You have to compare it to the previous bike from your own company. Looking at our current level, it's very important that we start 2026 at the same level we had at the end of this season. We brought a few solutions to Valencia – as you could see, a few things in terms of aerodynamics. We also tested a different frame with Jorge (Martin). We made some adjustments that were more radical than on a normal race weekend. All of this was in preparation for next season.

We have certainly shown that we have raised our level considerably – we are closer to the others. But Honda's performance with Mir and sometimes Marini, or KTM, especially with Acosta, also shows signs of growth. We therefore have to focus on the championship as a whole, not just Ducati. But as I said, we have to focus on the level we are at right now."
