So after some thought I decided since I no longer maintain (and have thusly deleted) my blog purely dedicated to music I’d at least keep the reviews I used to write alive. Might as well restart with the best.

It’s impossible for me to review this album objectively, I love Cattle Decap. As a band that sat at the outside edge of my tastes due to the extremity of their heaviness it wasn’t until Anthropocene Extinction came about that they finally broke through and became a beloved band, from there I went backwards into their discography and became enamored with just about everything. Now with Death Atlas I believe they’ve hit both a musical and conceptual peak. Few bands are ever able to truly capture their own image in an album, that’s what Death Atlas is, it is Cattle Decapitation at their essence. Furious, melodic, exceptionally musically skilled, uncompromising, and undiluted. It is also I believe their most complete album from start to finish, every track fits, every track hits, it’s brutal beauty and that’s pretty much that. It’s the best album of 2019 and probably one of the greatest metal records ever written.
