#tech bro

This is the second of four (so far) villains I've created in City of Heroes that are based on the real-life villainy associated with Big Tech. This one is just named Big Tech. He's an illusion/energy dominator AT, with all his power effects colored green to match his emerald power core.

I was astonished that the name hadn't already been taken. I initially intended to make him a pastiche of several notable techbro business-idiot CEOs, but it soon became clear that he needed to be a satire of Muskrat in particular.

I made his head as tiny as possible, while the mechsuit is maxed out on every size slider. I wanted to give the impression of a tiny little man inside a huge, grotesque, ungainly machine.

The face I chose (Supernatural 14) doesn't look much like him, but I love it anyway. The dark circles around the eyes, and the high-blood-pressure face veins give him the perfect vibe.

The suit itself is mostly the Mecha armor set, which is hideously overdesigned (very authentically Mecha). I topped it off with a golden crotchplate and some Roman-style pauldrons because fascist diaper babies fuckin' love the Roman empire.

Finally, the suit is powered by emeralds because this guy would be exactly nowhere without his daddy's money.

The company's goal was not just to sell you a wifi connected fridge, car, microwave, or camera. Many of these companies LOOSE money on each sale. They dont want your one-time purchase. They want to mine you for data to sell to ad companies so they can make money off of you for as long as you let them.

"Smart" has just become a code word for data harvesting and ad personalization.
