jesus christ superstar, high school production.
so, my school recently closed our production of jesus christ superstar, which i was teching for. i actually tried to white this post during superstar but we all just fuckin party in the wings during that number and i was busy singing an octave above the sopranos now, as it was a high school production there are some notable stories. such as -ciaphus didn’t wear pants under his robe and liked to show us his legs backstage -(angrily whispered, yet miked) peter: simon! jesus said not to do this anymore! simon: just shut up and take a damn flyer. -ok honestly the actor for simon is wonderful -his name is timmy and he needs to play angel in rent ok ok just saying -“EY YALL SEE THIS YALL SHOULD BUY MY CLOCK ITS A NICE ASS CLOCK IF I WERE YOU I KNOW WHERE MY MONEY WOULD BE GOING BUY MY CLOCK” -timmy during the temple closing night -“heyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyhey. hey. hey– buy my clock.” -timmy backstage during a run through -(barely heard from in the wings) “oh i need dis” -timmy the night before closing during the temple -“that. is. not. an aAAAAANsWEeR.” -me learning how to man the spot and just putting a really small bright red light focused on the drummers face during rehearsal. he didn’t notice. -the drummer (dash) is rlly soft and huggable i love him -(backstage) 39! 40– wait fuck -“Ocean enjoys touching her eye with her bare finger, and pretending to be a good and responsible high school student.” -harod dancing shirtless in the wings -ciaphus doing his little dance in superstar. one night it was to harod, the next it was pilate. -my mariah carey note from the wings at the end of superstar -running pilate and christ, which goes into harod’s song. timmy running out onstage in his costume for simon and posing where he’s meant to be for the beginning of that number, all by himself onstage. erin, our director: hi timmy timmy, grinning: hiiiiii -not even kidding timmy is an icon -timmy in harod’s dance -also just harod -devon (harod) is such a chill dude and as soon as he’s onstage he’s a fucking monstrous ball of glee and energy and it’s hilarious -everyone just,, dabbing in the wings during pilate and christ. -also all the energetic dancing during the slow final part in judas’s death??? -fuckin mary was doing it mostly -our cast was awesome -except jesus hated me and i’m salty -ok i’m done for now -ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
nothing gives me more joy at work than being a sweetie pie over the phone to older people who are very apologetic about not being good with technology. listen to me. I have immense awe and respect for your wealth of experiences and your thousand and one other life skills that I couldn't even conceive of.
