Lightning cracks across the sky as his heart races in fear, the cold and wind battering him as he looks for any other signs of life in the dense wood.

His horse rears up as he tries desperately to keep his hold. A roar echoes through the night sky, unheard against the thunder.

Yeahhhh, remember how I said I’d be giving him a break this Teasertober? I kinda lied about that ._.

Nothing but red, it fills his vision as he wails in agony. Pain unfelt in centuries rushing back to tired bones. His eyes pour blood as ego is shattered and laid bare, washing away in waves of crimson torment.

Who could do this? Who would dare? Head throbbing with devastation, he digs his forehead into the dirt, the soil drinking the pools of his torment as screams fill the trees.

The most blood I’ve done before this was a nosebleed, so this was great practice for some really bloody stuff coming up in this story •_•

The water is cool and crisp, the leaves sway with the breeze, he sleeps for an eternity, a warm and happy dream.

Though not all dreams are eternal, they have to come to an end. One day the flowers will die and wilt, and weigh heavy on his head.

The breeze shakes the leaves of a tree, the sound of the babbling brook at his feet periodically interrupted by the cracking of chestnuts.

A rare moment of calm amid the terror, a break from the chaos to breath and simply enjoy a crunchy snack.
