"Because this, sweetheart," Klaus gestured towards the cave with his hands, "is where the cure lies."

"Seriously?" Caroline arched an eyebrow. "In there?" She awaited a reply until she got a nod. "You’re insane if you think I’m going in there for the cure."

"Do you want to get it, or not?"

"I already said I did, but I’m not risking going into a tomb I can never get out of!” She repeated her previous words for emphasis. “Besides, why don’t you go? Aren’t you the immortal hybrid? Or does he actually have to eat too?”

Klaus bowed his eyes, “Everyone needs to eat, sweetheart.” he began, earning him a look from Caroline, “Either way, I suggest we find someone who cannot get stuck in the tomb to get us the cure.”

"Right, because who do we know that has 0% vampire in there? oh, right, no one." She commented, thick with sass. "Well, there’s Bonnie, but she’s on team Gilbert of finding the cure. And then there’s Matt, but oh he’s also on team Gilbert," She suppressed an eye roll, "Any more bright ideas?" She finally let him speak.

"Maybe I suggest someone outside of the 10-ish or so people you know in this town?"

"Like compelling someone?" She asked, only to glare at him when he didn’t reply. "No. No compulsion." She laid out flatly. 

"Then what do you suggest, love?"

Before the question could be answered, the two heard footsteps, only to be faced with Elena and Damon. Two members of the Gilbert team.

"Look at that," Damon commenting, "Witchy was right about where the cure would be."

"What are you doing here?" Caroline demanded, crossing her arms over her chest.

"We could ask you the same thing." Elena commented.

“We," Klaus spoke up, putting emphasis on the word, "were here getting the cure." 

"Funny how we were doing the exact same thing." Damon arched an eyebrow.

"But only one of us can get it, mate. Whichever one of us is brave enough to enter the tomb?"

All of them looked at each other now, silently cursing their vampire gift, all but Elena of course who was always cursing her vampire gift, and Damon was muttering about the one time any of the 3 humans in the town were useful, was when they weren’t here.

There was a few moments of silence before Caroline spoke up, “Maybe we should just call it a day.” Her comment causing raised eyebrows among the 4. “What? It’s not like any of us are stupid enough to risk our lives going in there, just to never get out.” She explained with hand movements.

"So what, we’re just going to lead Stefan and Rebekah right to where it is and give it to them?" Damon demanded. 

"In case you’ve forgotten," Caroline quipped, "Stefan and Rebekah are vampires too. They can’t get in either."

"I’m not like you, blondie, I actually have a brain. And I’m not going to leave the cure up for grabs for whoever comes around when they feel like it. I’m getting it now." Damon replied, that look in his eyes when he was determined appearing.

"No, you’re not." Caroline stood straighter, "Because we’re getting it now.” she said, referring to her and Klaus. Even though Klaus knew how much Caroline didn’t want to be partnering up with him, it made him feel so much better that she did.

"Okay, both of you, calm down." Elena interrupted, ordering them.

"Since when do you tell me what to do, Elena?" Caroline snapped back, surprising the group. Normally she wasn’t that short tempered with Elena. "We’re the ones running around all over town looking for the cure for you."

"Um, actually you’re not since you’re not in this with or for me, you’re in this with him." Elena gestured to Klaus, but replying to Caroline.

"Well excuse me Elena, for not thinking that killing a ton of innocent vampires to find the cure is the best way to find the cure. And you know what I’d rather work with ‘him’ over working with you any day." Caroline snapped.

Things got heated up from there.

And suddenly what went from Elena and Caroline shoving each other, to Damon trying to break up their cat fight, went from Damon to Klaus starting to fight each other, which led Caroline, who had been pushed a little too hard by Elena, stumbling backwards, and trying to run at Elena, suddenly hit a invisible wall.

The confusion was apparent on her face, even Klaus, who was behind her about to go after Damon, could see it. The way she looked from her hands hitting the barrier up at Elena and Damon. 

It took Klaus a moment too, after seeing her reaction as she turned around to face him. They were stuck. This was what Klaus got for trying to take it easy on Damon.

"Oh my god, Care, I’m so sorry!" Were the first words out of Elena’s mouth as she processed what was happening, while Damon chuckled.

"Sorry? You’re sorry, Elena? I’m trapped in the same tomb Katherine was trapped in, and you’re sorry?" She demanded, the panic already apparent on her face.

"We’ll figure something out." Elena began brain storming, "There has to be a witch some where who can help us." 

As Elena was thinking of a solution aloud to Damon, who wasn’t listening, Caroline was already pacing, when they heard footsteps approach. This would be one hell of a story to tell Stefan and Rebekah.

Caroline paced up and down, while Klaus sat, his back against the wall. 

"What are we going to do?" She kept muttering, mostly to herself.

5 hours, they’d been stuck in there 5 hours. Mainly the majority of the 5 hours was thinking of ways to get them out, before Elena and Damon went home to Bonnie, to see if there was anything she could do, while Stefan and Rebekah went to figure out how hard the spell would be to preform again.

"We could stop pacing," Klaus suggested, earning him a glare from the blonde, who continued to pace.

"Why?" Caroline asked, "Of all people on Earth, Why did I have to be trapped in a tomb with you?"

"Isn’t that a bit harsh, love? I thought you and I were becoming friends." he commented with a smirk.

"I never knew a thousand year hybrid had dreams," She rolled her eyes at him. 

"Not dreams," he caught onto her comment, "just hopes." He smirked.

"What the hell are we going to do?" Elena demanded to the group in front of her, even Stefan and Rebekah were there. Well, Stefan was there to get Caroline out of the tomb, Rebekah to get Klaus.

"I can see if the Expression Magic will work?" Bonnie suggested.

"Whatever just gets them the hell out of there." Rebekah commented from her comfortable place on the couch.

"Is this really such a bad thing?" Damon chirped up, causing the whole group to look at him. "Okay, here me out. We know Klaus has got a thing for Caroline, and blondie’s making it pretty obvious she feels the same," Damon looked over to Tyler, "sorry buddy, you know it’s true," he said to him, "anyway, what if we just leave them in there a few days to sort out there issues and we won’t have to deal with them?"

"That’s a terrible idea!" Rebekah stood straight up from her seat on the couch, as protesting from everyone else in the group started.

"Maybe not." Stefan said, getting up too, but more slowly. "Common now," he said looking around at all the protesters (which were everyone besides Damon), "You all want Caroline to be happy?" he asked, everyone nodded slowly, then looked over to Rebekah for a moment, "and you want Klaus to be happy?" he asked as Rebekah stubbornly nodded. "Well neither of them are going to be happy until they sort out whatever they have going on. So either they’ll sort it out and be happy, or they’ll realize they hate each other even more and be happy." Stefan said, convincing most of them.

"So, basically, we’re just going to lock them in a room together until the confess they’re in love with each other?" Rebekah asked, pouring herself a drink, and ignoring Tyler’s feelings.

"Pretty much."

Rebekah considered it a moment, before taking a sip of her drink, “Fine by me, I guess.”

It’s not like they were betting on how long it would take, except they were betting. Elena said a week, Bonnie said 2 weeks, Tyler said it was never going to happen, Stefan gave them 5 days, and Damon gave them 2. 

"It’s been 4 days!" Caroline sighed, exasperated. "4 days! And we’re still stuck in here!" She paced around the tiny space. Granted, they usually came giving blood bags and food to the two. Rebekah always came to make sure Klaus was actually given the bags, and even though he hated them, there was nothing else to drink.

"Calm down, love. They’re working as fast as they can." Personally, Klaus didn’t mind it very much. Caroline was easy to talk to when she wasn’t all neurotic and crazy, like now. When she was calm, they actually had real conversations, and Klaus didn’t mind one bit being stuck in a small space with her.

"Not fast enough!" She demanded, back to freaking out again.

"Want to know what I think love?" Klaus asked the frazzled blonde.

"Think about what?"

"Think about why you’re going so insane being trapped in here." He commented from his comfortable place, while she gave him a pointed look. "It’s either a. You have claustrophobia which you neglected to tell me, but that doesn’t really matter since you’re a vampire now, does it?"

Caroline rolled her eyes at him, “Okay, what’s theory b?”

"That you’re in love with me, of course." He said shortly, causing Caroline to look up immediately.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me, love. That your feelings for me are so strong that being locked up with me is making it even harder to resist."

"Wow," Caroline scoffed at him, "Aren’t you cocky?"

"I prefer to call it confidence." Klaus smirked, "and you still haven’t answered the question."

"That’s because it’s a dumb question," She huffed, beginning to pace again. "In love with you? Seriously? No. I’m so not in love with you. Do I have feelings for you? Yeah, I guess. I mean I think so. But love-"

"What’d you just say, love?" Klaus cut her off of her little rant, Caroline stopping short from her pacing. "That you had feelings for me?" he smirked a bit, "Feelings of love, perhaps?"

Caroline took a deep breath, maybe it was the lack of oxygen in this cave or the fact that she couldn’t dodge him in here, because who knew how long they’d be stuck in here, or maybe she was tired of lying to herself, but for the first time, she didn’t shoot him down. “Perhaps. It depends.” was all she said.

"Depends of what, sweetheart?"

She turned to face him, feeling more confident all of the sudden, “If you have feelings of love for me?” she arched an eyebrow.

It shouldn’t have been a surprise 15 minutes later, when Stefan arrived with their food and blood bags to see Klaus and Caroline making out against the wall, still fully clothed, Stefan thanked god.

He coughed for a moment, bowing his head down and trying not to chuckle while the two split apart, Caroline straightening out her clothes. 

Stefan set the blood bags down on the floor, before shouting out, “Damon, you’re plan worked. You owe me $20.” he walked out the door as Caroline and Klaus both gave him confused looks, “Oh yeah,” he turned to face them again, “We can have you guys out in less than an hour.”

"What?!" Caroline demanded.
