Johnny Dioguardi created seven fake Teamster locals to give Hoffa the votes. Hoffa gave Dorfman the pension fund. Dorfman approved a $62 million loan to the Chicago Outfit. The Outfit skimmed an estimated $300 million out of Vegas.
The FBI named an entire operation after him — Operation Pendorf — and bugged his office for years. He was murdered in a Lincolnwood parking lot in 1983, three days before his sentencing.
Henry Hill and Frank Cullotta — the two real informants who brought down both halves of the empire — ended up as friends at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas.

Casino Was Forbidden to Show the Man Behind the Skim

Nick Civella controlled the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund, directed $146 million in loans to Las Vegas casinos, and ran the skim from a federal prison visiting room. Casino was legally forbidden from using his real name. Scorsese's 1995 film had to use "adapted from a true story" instead of "based on a true story." Every real name was changed. The Kansas City mob boss who controlled Teamsters president Roy Lee Williams, coordinated four Midwest crime families, and personally approved the $62.7 million loan to Allen Glick's Argent Corporation became an unnamed old man eating pasta in a grocery store for 90 seconds of screen time. The FBI planted a bug in the Villa Capri Pizzeria in Kansas City on June 2, 1978. Operation Strawman brought down bosses from Kansas City, Chicago, Cleveland, and Milwaukee.
